Every person deserves Dignity and Respect. We all sometimes need help. A different perspective and a reason for Hope can be important goals of counseling. We all approach life doing "The Best We Can". Thoughts, Feelings, and Behaviors all influence how we are doing. I have been in practice for 20+ years and works with individuals and families. I have experience working with the children/ teens, juvenile court system/probation, youth who sexually harm, Marital/family conflict, and behavioral/parenting issues. I am also a member of the Nebraska Academy of Collaborative Professionals and am trained in mediation.

A lot of my clients have depression and anxiety. They tend to have a lot of negative self-talk and little self-love. They may have boundary issues and unhealthy coping skills when frustrated or angry.

“Change your mind, Change your life” -Joe Dispenza. Reaching out for mental health services is one of the bravest things you can do for yourself. I am a holistic therapist, looking at you as a whole: mind, body, and spirit. There is so much more to you than just your symptoms and struggles. You can indeed change your life from within. It starts with you. I can assist in reaching your full potential and overcoming life’s ‘speed bumps.’ My practice is intended to provide a space where you can feel comfortable, allow yourself to be YOU, a space free of judgment, and where you can give yourself permission to be vulnerable.

I have been fortunate to work with diverse populations from families trying to deal with communication issues, to those dealing with the fallout of sexual addictions and couples experiencing betrayal or intimacy issues.
My heart as a counselor is to meet my clients where they are. I believe that we are all on a journey of growth with a desire to improve our emotional health. Every once in a while we get to a place where we feel stuck and sometimes being stuck is painful. That is where a qualified therapist can come into the picture and help you identify goals and process past hurts. I strive to provide a safe place where my clients can work through these issues free of judgement.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
