I have a heart for serving adults, adolescents, couples and families dealing with significant life issues such as the death of a loved one, chronic illness or pain, issues stemming from past trauma, parenting children with special needs, or managing chronic mental health conditions such as ADHD, anxiety and depression. I believe that it is helpful when a therapist has a personal understanding of the areas in which they specialize. I have personal experience with all of these circumstances, allowing me a level of empathy and insight that may not be possible otherwise.

In 12 years as a therapist I have helped individuals, children, teens, couples and families find healing and understanding in desperate situations.
Life can be painful. Therapy doesn’t have to be. Many people see therapy as one-sided, with little opportunity for interaction or getting to experience each other as real people. I can promise you that I am as real as it gets! I want to help you achieve the solutions and life changes you are looking for while enjoying the process as much as possible. Calling therapist can be intimidating, but I hope you will take a moment (and maybe a deep breath) to call and see how I can help.

A majority of my practice has been with family, LGBTQIA+, anxiety, depression, couples and parenting challenges.
People come to therapy for many reasons and I want to make this experience a meaningful journey for you. You may want to dive into past experiences because they are shaping your current world or you may have something happening in the moment that you need support with in order to determine your next steps. Whatever brings you to the space of exploring therapy, please know that I am here to listen to what you are going through and provide you with an opportunity to reflect on your options so you can decide what is next. It's all about you, your future success and how YOU define success.

I am committed to providing a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental atmosphere, in order to develop a genuine relationship with you.
Have you been struggling to get out of bed each morning, constantly fighting the urge to just stay in bed all day? Has your job or school performance been affected, or maybe even your relationships with your friends, family, or significant other? Maybe you’ve lost interest in activities that once brought you joy, and even the simplest of tasks seem impossible to get done. YOU deserve to be happy again, to smile and laugh again, to feel like yourself again. Although all hope might appear to be lost right now, don't give up, because you are NOT alone.

You can come back from anything no matter how bad you think the situation is. It is all about your mindset. Reprogramming your mindset is the key to your success. The power of change rest in your desire to want change. I believe that people have the power to change their circumstances within themselves by changing their thought pattern first. Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
