I also provide care in helping couples work on communication, intimacy, navigating conflict, handling financial stress, divorce/separation, infidelity, and parenting issues.
It takes a lot to be a person. Perhaps you've lost a loved one, are struggling through a life transition, or have regrets. Maybe you've even experienced pain and hurt by someone you thought was safe and secure to trust. Life is difficult. And yet, there's hope. We thrive in relationships and connections with others, not struggle through painful moments alone. In our work together, I promise to give you my utmost commitment toward helping you identify and grow from the challenging experiences accompanying this life.

I believe that you are the expert of yourself and healing happens in the context of a safe therapeutic relationship.
Maybe you feel like you're stuck on autopilot. Maybe you are drowning in stress or emotions. Maybe you feel plagued by past experiences. We live in a world that tells us to figure it all out on our own. Asking for help takes courage. I work with individuals and couples who are feeling stuck, frustrated, burnt out, lonely, and disconnected. Giving voice to your struggles can be scary but it can also be deeply healing. I aim to help clients find a greater sense of calm, clarity, and fulfillment in their lives.

Relationships - to others and, importantly, to ourselves - dramatically influence our ability to flourish in a rich lived experience. I work with individuals (age 15+) and couples who grow weary of feeling upset, disconnected, exhausted, alone, empty, worried, anxious... who seek a daily experience of thriving, engagement, closeness, and congruence between who you are, your desires, and your ways-of-being. Though feeling fed up, frustrated, and ready for change isn't our preferred state of existence, those who find themselves here are also ready for and motivated to find change.

Life is a complex journey that can feel overwhelmingly hard to navigate at times. We all show up with our own profound life experiences and when obstacles emerge that seem insurmountable, we need support and guidance for growth, deep personal healing, and connection. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and genuinely value the importance of offering a safe environment to hold space where meaningful change and growth can occur. Therapy is a collaborative process and I recognize the importance of flexibility and adaptability.

I am a clinical social worker who enjoys working with individuals and couples. I believe strongly in the power of the therapeutic relationship to facilitate growth and change in our lives. There are times in life, we may find ourselves presented with situations that find us confused, frustrated, anxious or grief stricken. At times like this it can be helpful to seek therapy so that we may sort out deeper internal patterns that no longer serve us.

Working with couples through coaching or counseling, we resolve conflict, improve relational satisfaction, communication skills, and gain an understanding of dysfunctional interactions.
I believe people are born good and have an innate drive to constantly do better. I also believe when things happen in our lives that prevent us from reaching that potential, we may need gentle guidance to help us reach the potential we desire. Working together, we will strive to find the ways that will individually suit you to help you reach your personal goals. Having worked with individuals from age 7 to 90, couples, individuals, families, and groups, there is a need for diversity in counseling in order to meet each person where they are.

I once heard it said that "Mental health problems need to be viewed as proof of our humanity, not an exception to it." Such problems in today's world often present themselves as anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, isolation, stagnation, trauma, relationship strain, etc. and can leave people feeling like they are merely existing rather than living. Does this sound familiar to you? If it does, then a counselor like myself may be able to help you through it.

I work with individuals and couples struggling with life changes, depression, anxiety, and marital conflicts.
I have been studying and working in mental health for 23 years since 1999. Emotional suffering due to relational conflict, anxiety and depression are some of the main reasons people seek therapy. When people engage fully in the therapeutic process, they can often experience moments of transformation that can be profound and or subtle in which their experience of suffering is either alleviated or their attitude towards their situation shifts in meaningful ways. My training and experiences as a clinical psychologist can help you to reduce your pain and how you relate to the difficult experiences or people in your life.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
