Through a safe, caring, helping relationship, I am here to help you connect with your self, your life, and others as you experience your change.
In life, change is inevitable. Sometimes we want it, and sometimes we don't. Sometimes it comes easy, and sometimes it's among the hardest thing we'll ever try to do. Themes central to experiencing change include tolerating uncertainties, having safe supportive others who can witness and support change, and having choice on the kinds of support needed to make sustainable change. I'm pleased to offer Psychotherapy to residents in the State of Montana, as well as Programs and Collective Healing Communities.

Some of my experience includes working with individuals who have experienced trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, and managing difficult life transitions.
Accepting new clients. Counseling offers a space for deepening our connection to ourselves, exploring emotions, and healing or processing areas where we may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or closed off. I believe in the process of self-exploration to become more fulfilled, connected, and grounded versions of ourselves. I practice from a holistic, person-centered approach, which offers space for emotional exploration and processing in a warm, collaborative environment and a therapeutic relationship that is genuine, authentic, and compassionate. I am trained in EMDR and enjoy integrating mindfulness and somatic modalities into my practice.

My goal is to provide space and empathy for your life. My experience has been built in transitions including grief, chronic illness, aging, caregiving stress, and end-of-life. I feel strongly that each client is their own expert to their own journey and that my role as a therapist is to meet the client where they are at in that story and establish a safe relationship of listening without judgement. I also have worked with adolescents and adults dealing with depression, anxiety and other adjustment-based needs.

Do you ever wonder if your partner will be there for you when you really need them? Do you feel like you have tried so hard to figure things out, but somehow nothing ever changes? It’s amazing how often people feel alone in a couple; frustrated and inadequate, maybe even invisible? If things don’t change, then what? So many important expectations, so many hopes, so many questions, that go right to the heart of things.

I work with individuals and couples struggling with life changes, depression, anxiety, and marital conflicts.
I have been studying and working in mental health for 23 years since 1999. Emotional suffering due to relational conflict, anxiety and depression are some of the main reasons people seek therapy. When people engage fully in the therapeutic process, they can often experience moments of transformation that can be profound and or subtle in which their experience of suffering is either alleviated or their attitude towards their situation shifts in meaningful ways. My training and experiences as a clinical psychologist can help you to reduce your pain and how you relate to the difficult experiences or people in your life.

Relationships - to others and, importantly, to ourselves - dramatically influence our ability to flourish in a rich lived experience. I work with individuals (age 15+) and couples who grow weary of feeling upset, disconnected, exhausted, alone, empty, worried, anxious... who seek a daily experience of thriving, engagement, closeness, and congruence between who you are, your desires, and your ways-of-being. Though feeling fed up, frustrated, and ready for change isn't our preferred state of existence, those who find themselves here are also ready for and motivated to find change.

My strengths include working with people and couples who have experienced trauma, those working through issues surrounding gender, sexuality and sexual orientation, grief and loss, life transitions, identity exploration, self harming behaviors, addictive behaviors, infidelity, parenting stress, and relationship issues.
I believe that everyone has within them the capacity for growth and profound strength. However, sometimes we find ourselves stuck in problematic patterns without the insight or support we need to free ourselves. One of the greatest honors of my lifetime is the ongoing opportunity I have to walk alongside my clients as they both deepen their understanding of themselves and rewrite their stories to ones of strength, self-compassion and empowerment.

I believe that you are the expert of yourself and healing happens in the context of a safe therapeutic relationship.
Maybe you feel like you're stuck on autopilot. Maybe you are drowning in stress or emotions. Maybe you feel plagued by past experiences. We live in a world that tells us to figure it all out on our own. Asking for help takes courage. I work with individuals and couples who are feeling stuck, frustrated, burnt out, lonely, and disconnected. Giving voice to your struggles can be scary but it can also be deeply healing. I aim to help clients find a greater sense of calm, clarity, and fulfillment in their lives.

I have worked with couples, families and individuals in clinical, hospital and private practice settings.
Are you feeling generally overwhelmed, stuck or lonely in your life or relationships? Are there problems or patterns you're struggling to heal? Relationships have the capacity to affect our lives in really negative ways when they aren't safe and connected. I have a passion for helping couples explore and understand relational wounds so they can heal present problems and find relief from these negative impacts. When relationships are functioning well, they can be a profound source of healing and resiliency - I want my clients to experience this change in, and outside of, the therapy space.

A few daytime appointments available in April. Imagine a world where growing up was easy and adulting was just as simple? There would be no peer relationship struggles, everyone had great self-esteem, angelic behaviors abounded, and traumatic life events never occurred. Heck, even our work and home lives were a breeze, we all had uncomplicated relationships, and mental health concerns did not exist. Unfortunately, we do face hard things. Therapy is a way to get help, guidance, and relief as you walk through the daily challenges of life. Are you ready for change? I bet you are!

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
