I also have special interest in postpartum issues and parenting children who are differently-abled. In addition to my MSW, I hold an MDiv which equips me to provide a Christian counseling experience for those desire to have their spirituality incorporated into their their treatment. I utilize a person-centered approach which allows my clients to openly share the concerns leading them to seek out therapy.

I believe the human capacity for change and growth is incredible. Difficult experiences, negative environments, and challenging relationships can distort our connections with ourselves and others. I have over ten years of experience providing psychological and counseling services in outpatient and residential treatment settings. I have had the privilege to work with many individuals, couples and families struggling with a variety of challenges, and have specialized training in a range of psychological treatment options. My ideal client is anyone who is struggling with a loss of hope and who cannot find meaning in his or her life. They may be struggling with depression, trauma, grief, addiction, relationship problems, or developmental issues that can affect individuals at any time across the lifespan. I also work with parents struggling with raising their children, and couples who struggle with communication issues and/or repeated core conflicts. All of these individuals want better ways to manage their emotions, problem solving strategies, and a new way to look at the world.

I believe that clients have within themselves an amazing ability to self-heal, and the role of the counselor is to find and tap into that ability. I also believe it is important to learn about each client's world and to develop a relationship where clients can feel understood and supported while learning about themselves. This creates the space for exploring the choices they have and any changes they may want to make toward more personal fulfillment. Therapy for children may involve consultation with parents who need support meeting their child's challenges. Play therapy is used with children.

I work with preteens, teens, and adults and offer evening and weekend appointments to fit into a busy work or school schedule (evening and weekend spots fill quickly and are not guaranteed!)

If you have experienced trauma or events that have been very disruptive to your life EMDR therapy can bring you significant relief. If you feel hopeless that life can get better, or find yourself sabotaging your own successes, EMDR therapy is a great approach. I specialize in working with first responders and Veterans, and I help people with sexual and substance addictions as well. As an adoptive parent in the trenches, I am an expert in parenting issues related to fostering and adoption. I am here to help if you are considering making a change or need support trying to figure out what needs to change.

No one understands what you are going through like you do. In therapy, I believe it is important for a person to tell their own story, and the therapist's job to use their knowledge to empower individuals by identifying strengths in a person's environment. With previous work experience in healthcare, I enjoy working with children, teenagers, and adults with histories of complex trauma, addictions, grief, sexual health, and complex medical histories.
