I am a licensed psychologist with a private practice in Bloomington, Indiana. I was educated and lived most of my life in New York City. In my private practice I work with teens, adults, couples, and families, and with people of all beliefs and backgrounds. My approach centers on developing a heart-to-heart connection with clients in an honest search for emotional blocks that prevent us from living a more fulfilling life. Together, we work to uncover and understand these blocks by objectively observing everyday reactions, attitudes, and beliefs in our relationships and activities.

I assist adults, parents, couples, older students, struggling with a variety of issues.
You ultimately have the best knowledge of what will work for you when it comes to making changes and living your most positive life. My job is to help guide you in finding solutions to challenges which we all face in our day to day experiences. At times these challenges require more assistance than at other times. I will give you a space to be heard and together we will explore ways to grow, cope, change, learn, etc. from a strength based approach. We can all gain a more peaceful existence while telling our story no matter what that is. I understand it’s so difficult to tell sometimes.

I provide an experience where your problems can be addressed in an open, non-judgmental, and confidential setting. I am not a passive therapist. I seek to help individuals, couples, and families learn how to move forward. Learning may involve growing one's self- acceptance or lessening one's dependence upon approval. It may involve improving one's judgment and/or taking care of oneself in relationships. The learning may involve "letting go" of a "bad" relationship or grieving losses . It may involve overcoming anxiety, depression or addiction(s). Lastly, learning may involve restoring broken trust or estrangement.

The therapeutic relationship is very important and I truly desire to get to know you, your story and your goals so I can best support you.
I utilize my 17 years of counseling experience working with diverse populations from school age to adult to help clients understand themselves better and make meaningful changes. My areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, ADHD/ASD, and life, school and career related transitions. Previously, I counseled college students in the university setting. I enjoy working with young adults as that is an immense time of transition, new beginnings and many times added stressors. This is a season of life where students can learn a lot about themselves and build healthy habits and positive coping skills for a lifetime.

My practice includes EMDR therapy and more traditional psychotherapy for clinical concerns including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, LGBTQ-related issues, eating disorders, gender dysphoria, relationship problems, trauma, and grief.
I believe that human beings have an inherent longing and need for wholeness and balance, which is our natural state of being. However, we sometimes encounter damaging or traumatic events or long term stress that interrupt this natural state. When we are imbalanced, we develop psychological and/or physical symptoms, and we begin to use ineffective coping mechanisms. The good news is that with the right tools, these struggles can be used as a path back to the wholeness we seek. Having worked with clients for over twenty years, I know firsthand the power of using our difficulties to point the way towards healing.

I work with individuals and couples during pregnancy and the transition to parenthood - helping to address issues of evolving identity, mood, and the depth work that often arises as new parents reflect on their childhood experiences and the parents they aim to be for their own children.
I help clients build insight about the barriers keeping them from the life and connection they desire while also developing the tools necessary to make empowered and lasting change. My supportive yet direct style is authentic and compassionate while also being appropriately challenging — creating space for the self-exploration that allows clients to build positive internal & external relationships and experience foundational healing. This collaborative process deepens clients' self-understanding in order to connect them with their own wisdom and ability to navigate life's many challenges and maintain meaningful connections.

I work to address relationship distress, trauma, racial and sexuality identity development, and experiences of racial battle fatigue.
I believe that people often thrive when they prioritize their own individual health and are supported by their community. Challenges arise whenever our community is in chaos, our own health suffers, and the stories we once ascribed to no longer serve us. While these experiences can overwhelm us, make us feel powerless, or lose hope, I want you to know that you are not alone. She understands that being human is hard and relationships can be complicated, painful, and change the how we honor our authentic selves. That’s why I work to help empower clients by creating a space that is safe, open, curious, and built on advocacy.

I use a client-centered approach in working with individual clients and couples.
Sometimes life confronts us with experiences that are disruptive personally or in our relationships resulting in feelings of depression, anxiety, or loss. While these feelings are normal, they can present challenges in terms of maintaining our sense of well-being and our ability to function well in our daily lives. In my view, the purpose of therapy is to help clients understand the source of disruptions, help them learn strategies for coping with and working-through difficult emotions, and become aware of triggering experiences. In this way, clients can learn how to repair disruptions and thereby restore their sense of well-being.

Dauntless Counseling and Consulting specializes in the treatment of trauma, couples distress, anxiety, depression, and a host of other struggles pertaining to the human condition in today's world.
When you have suffered trauma, you learn early on that you can not say "no". As a result, maybe you struggle with people pleasing, saying "yes" to whatever comes up to avoid conflict, and hopefully, demonstrate your value. Maybe you feel like you can't trust yourself, can't trust others, and are destined to live a life of powerlessness and shame. When was the last time you remember having good sleep? The last you felt good enough? Safe? Whole? Or maybe you are concerned about ailing relationships in your life; be they with family, friends, or your partner? Maybe you want to feel closer to others but don't know how? We can help.

I truly care about the well being of my clients and go to great lengths to build a strong rapport, as a therapeutic relationship is often the foundation to change.
My ideal Client is someone who is motivated to work on themselves and dive deeper into emotional wounds that create barriers to your every day life. Being ready for change is an important factor in treatment feeling beneficial and we aren’t always motivated for change. Honesty and openness are key ingredients to building a life worth living, even on the days we feel burnt out and unmotivated.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
