I have been in private practice for twenty-six years and work with individuals, couples, and families. In person and telehealth appointments are available. I work with children, adolescents and adults at every stage of their lives. I have a diverse practice and have greatly appreciated the diversity of my clients' life experience. My work focuses on supporting growth and individual development as well as symptom relief. I have offices in Glen Ellyn and Chicago and would be happy to speak with you regarding my practice.

I feel that the most important component of every successful therapy outcome is the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client. Trust, safety, empathy, and authenticity should be experienced within the relationship. These relationship qualities create an environment conducive to working on life’s issues and feeling comfortable throughout the process of change. I take a collaborative approach to therapy to meet the goals presented by my clients. My style is interactive and my treatment orientation is tailored to each individual client to meet their individual needs and to fit with their unique personalities.

I specialize in the assessment and treatment of behavior problems in children and adolescents, as well as depression and anxiety in individuals of all ages. I also specialize in the treatment of relationship problems and the psychological management of acute and chronic medical disorders, particularly cardiovascular disorders and encopresis. I help people gain insights into their difficulties and teach them skills that will facilitate the resolution of their difficulties. When requested, I confer with attending physicians and, in the case of minors, with their teachers and/or school social workers. I am on the medical staff of Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

I have a wide range of expereince dealing with emotional difficulties and relationship difficulties. I want my clients to experience their "self" as good and true. I want them to learn to trust themselves, and to experience a sense of vitality and accomplishment in living.

As a result, we tend toward an Integrative approach and help our clients transform into the people they want to be. We see each client as an individual with many parts to their identity. Utilizing a holistic and systemic approach we help clients reintegrate the parts of themselves to function better as individuals and within their systems. Our focus tends toward a systems based approach using behavior methods.

I work with a variety of people with a common set of experiences-the after effects of trauma, both childhood and throughout the lifespan. Untreated trauma is often accompanied by anxiety, depression, physical problems and addictions.

I see my role as helping people learn to trust themselves, to respect their own strength, and finally to build healthier relationships both personally and professionally. I am a solution focused therapist who takes a more active role n the counseling sessions. I have extensive experience with children, adolescents, and adults. I have specialized training and experience in treating depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and substance abuse, and family problems. In addition, I direct a practice of 11 psychologists. Together it means we have the ability to match the right person to your particular needs.

I believe in helping people find a balance in their lives. Helping navigate the need for challenging insights and how to use that knowledge to change their response to life and the things that might come; a pivot if you will. My unique life/work experiences have enhanced my ability to understand others and guide them through life's challenges. I started as a first responder and in a lot of ways I never stopped being one; just learned to put out different fires.

My experience and educational background are directly related and have provided me with a well-rounded background in Therapy. I am a Military veteran with 30 plus years of experience working with patients in psychiatric hospitals, state mental health facilities, Illinois Department of Corrections, and in private practice. I am currently licensed to practice in Illinois, Kansas and Georgia. I also provide Tele-health service to Military members overseas (OCONUS).

I have worked as a counselor for over 20 years. I see people of all ages from 4 years old to 60 years of age. Much of my practice focuses on treating issues of trauma and anxiety. I enjoy seeing the transformation in many of my clients when I treat their trauma issues with EMDR. I also specialize in working with children and families. I treat many types of childhood issues, including behavior problems, depression, ADHD, and abuse issues.
