There may come a time in life where we have reached the limits of our capacity to see, improve, and take charge of our lives. When we've hit a point where the old things just aren't working anymore and it's time for a change but we don't know how, a pair of fresh eyes can provide much needed clarity. Many mental health challenges arise from lack of self-awareness or cognitive patterns that hinder us from effectively addressing problems. For clients struggling to identify the root of the problem, therapeutic intervention to explore life purpose, self-love, attachment, and motivation can serve as an inspiring catalyst for change.

Does your life seem to be less fulfilling and you do not know why? Look no further. Your best life is waiting. I work to provide a safe space and collaborate with clients on finding their inner strengths to utilize them in building resiliency. I work to guide children ages four and older, adolescents, adults, couples, and first responders to reach their goals and experience a happier life. Given my experience working in emergency rooms, outpatient, residential and schools, I understand how the impact of these challenges can often leave people feeling unable to participate in life roles that lead to life satisfaction.

We will work to understand how past experiences, relationship wounds, and unhelpful thinking patterns and beliefs may be contributing to your depression and anxiety.
Heal. Grow. Create a life aligned with who you truly are. Depression and anxiety may be blocking the path to your authentic self. You may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, wanting to isolate, constantly feeling on edge, and feeling so drained that you can’t find the motivation to change unhealthy patterns. Therapy can help gain clarity to move forward. My goal is to help you feel more aligned, hopeful, empowered, and confident in your life.

As a clinical psychologist, I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families.
I am here to walk the journey alongside you. Life presents many challenges and adapting to a new "normal" is hard and perception can be glum. It feels like your sense of direction is confusing and uncertain. Relationships have lost their meaning, abundance and joy feel unattainable, and support stands at too far a distance for you to feel grounded in love and security.

The adage “we repeat what we don’t repair” is especially true of couples. Couples often start therapy knowing that their relationship can and should be better, but they feel powerless to change. Constant fighting, threatening to leave, infidelity, always feeling distant, anxiety and depression—these are signs that something needs to change. Couples therapy with me focuses on helping you and your partner break these cycles by first understanding how they came to be. I offer a unique perspective that emphasizes the importance of exploring unconscious dynamics and your past’s influence in your relationship.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
