I help clients find their self worth, decrease feelings of guilt and shame, reflect on their life challenges by exploring childhood patterns, relationship with self and others, or a current situation causing them stress or anxiety.
Are you feeling stuck and struggling to make a healthier change in your life? Is your anxiety crippling you or do you feel down and can’t shake it off? Many people deal with anxiety, depression in silence, especially the ones adjusting to a new identity such as parenthood. Others’ anxiety comes from challenges at work, relationships and other life stressors. I work with clients who struggle in silence and constantly ruminate on changing yet they might not have the tools nor the energy to get out of feeling stuck.

We work with adults and couples who experience distress and/or disconnect from their bodies, such as trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, chronic pain, injury recovery, rehabilitation, athletic performance, eating disorders, and body image.
Our motto is "where mind and body meet." We passionately believe that we cannot improve mental health without addressing physical health, and that in order to increase physical performance, we must incorporate mental skills training. You are not a one-size-fits-all, so the approach our therapists take with you shouldn't be either. We take a step back and look at your life as a whole - what are all of the components that make you, you? What are the factors in your life that have been out of whack, maybe for awhile? How can we treat the whole of who you are, rather than a list of symptoms you bring in?

Change can be hard and sometimes we need extra support to get through trying times. Oftentimes when adjusting to new life circumstances, it can take time to accept and acclimate to the changes taking place. Whether you are starting college, changed your relationship status, became a parent, or started a new job, it takes time to adapt. New experiences may feel overwhelming and exciting at times too. Therapy is a great place to process and explore what is going on in your life and how it is impacting you. Overcoming challenges is not easy, but with the right skills and support you can successfully navigate the transition.

Starting the search for a therapist that clicks with you can feel like a huge step, whether you're facing new chapters in life, dealing with school or work stress, wrestling with overwhelming feelings, or trying to smooth out relationship bumps. I aim to make this step a little less daunting with a free 15-minute chat over phone or Zoom. Drawing upon six years working in mental health, I've had the honor of helping teens get through tough spots and adults navigate life's big (and small) shifts. I've also worked to bring families and couples closer, opening up new pathways for communication.

I am committed to creating a safe space where respect, presence, compassion, and mutuality are the foundation of the counseling relationship.
It is normal, on occasion, for everyone to experience some anxiety dealing with life. But lately those feelings have become overwhelming. Over time, it feels like you are anxious about everything, and nothing. The worry is starting to creep into every aspect of your life- work, family, relationships,... even going to get out of bed feels overwhelming some days! You are not going crazy, and you are not alone- anxiety is one of the most common reasons people reach out to for help. Therapy can help get things back to normal.

You are the one that lives your worries, fears, shame, and desires. You are the expert or emerging expert on your own life. Sure, it may not feel that way because this world is confusing and overwhelming (and a bit devastating). My aim is to help you become more aware of your emotions, relationship patterns, and unhelpful thoughts, and become more responsive to your needs, desires, and values in authentic ways. My hope is that we can help you begin to feel more comfortable and confidant with who you are, who you want to be, and how to get there.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
