I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), certified IFS therapist (level 3 trained), and certified IFS clinical consultant who provides individual and couples therapy and consultation. I understand that it takes a lot of courage to begin the process of therapy, so I work to create a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I appreciate the uniqueness of each client's experience and strive to meet each client where they are at. I collaborate with them to create a treatment approach that is flexible, effective, and aligned with their goals for change and healing.

Using my knowledge of the varieties of communication styles and personalities, I guide couples in cultivating skills that reduce emotional reactivity and avoidance, fostering deeper intimacy and mutual understanding.
I offer engaged, purposeful therapy, focusing on relationships, professional and academic challenges, and life transitions. My specialty lies in supporting adults as they navigate increasing responsibilities in their careers while also managing personal life phases such as dating, marriage, parenting, and losses. Many of my clients are dealing with stress, anxiety, sadness, or depression. I integrate current research and traditional approaches: many clients find value in acquiring skills for emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness, while others explore larger issues related to their personal values and life's purpose.

Whether you're struggling with low self-esteem, anxiety, life transitions, body dysmorphia, relationship issues, or something else; it's a collaborative effort, a partnership built on trust and mutual respect.
Embarking on the path of therapy isn't just about sitting in a room and talking—it's a journey, an exploration of self-discovery and empowerment. For me, it's a journey fueled by passion and a deep-rooted desire to make a difference in people’s lives in a welcoming, safe, and nonjudgemental enviroment. While I work with clients of all ages, I've been drawn to the transformative power of support and guidance, especially during those crucial formative years. Together, we'll conquer obstacles, build confidence, and develop effective strategies to enhance your overall well-being.

Together we will strive to create a relationship that will help you to process these feelings and to enable you feel safe as we do.
Much like the character Hamlet says to his friend in the play by William Shakespeare “there is more in heaven and earth than is dreamt of in our philosophy”. There is so much about life and living, loving and losing than we can possibly understand. Whatever philosophical ideas we hold, there is so much that remains unknowable. Because it resonates with my own respect for and curiosity about the mystery of being alive, my clinical practice is informed by existential thinking. Why is this happening? How can I survive? What does it mean? These are the questions underlying our reactions to and feelings about our lives.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
