I specialize in counseling adolescents and adults in the areas of parent-child relationships, couples and family problems, men's issues, anxiety, depression, and Christian spirituality.
I believe that we all have some area of our lives that we would like to change. My passion is to walk with individuals who want or need this change. For change to take place in treatment we need clear direction with measurable goals, a strong sense of hope, and a good fit between the therapist and client. I take a holistic approach to counseling that addresses the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, ethical, and spiritual needs of the client. I would love to be a part of your change process.

I have specialized training in couples therapy and behavioral difficulties with children.
It can be difficult to reach out for help at times. It shows bravery and strength and may take personal motivation to do so. Reaching out is that first step showing you have what takes to heal. I will meet you at your point of need. I help clients like you develop the skills needed to create change, accomplish goals, and live a healthier happier life. With success we begin to change our beliefs that were creating hardship to ones that create growth, health, confidence, and acceptance. I strive to treat every person as family with a warm, compassionate approach.

I have experience, and work with, all kinds of teens, adults, couples, and families.
I am passionate about walking with, and supporting folks who, despite their successes, are confused by their lack of true joy or meaning in this life. So many of us wrestle with feeling deeply unfulfilled and real difficulty finding lasting and nourishing connection with others. Far too many of us then struggle privately, which rarely leads to less struggle. My mission is to create a space that feels safe and accepting where your individual struggle can be seen, accepted, understood, and worked out in a way that brings you a sense of peace.

Congratulations on talking the first steps toward recovery. Talking to a stranger about your challenges may seem awkward, but with the right therapist it becomes easier. Our work together will be unique since no single approach to therapy is best. Whatever the problem may be, taking this first crucial step is the start to placing you on the path you want to be in. I have personally traveled down this path before and have done my own personal work and transformation. This is why I respectfully feel I am in a position to guide you.

Hi! Thank you for reviewing my practice information; I have worked for many years helping individuals and families. Over the years, I have often heard that my clients are tired, lost and just feel empty. And many times, there's also marital or family conflict. I, also, work with clients that feel that their work is no longer satisfying or enjoyable. Let's talk about all these issues, and find some solutions and start feeling hopeful and excited about your life again. My office hours are flexible; I try to see clients right away. I wish you the best, Maryann

Whether your issue is substance abuse, unhealthy expression of anger, depression, anxiety, self esteem/body imagine or difficult relationships with others; counseling can be your first step towards a healthy way of living. Make that first step in your journey towards wellness.

I provide an integrative supportive approach that allows for healing and growth. I combine Motivational Enhancement with Cognitive Behavioral interventions to assist in identifying the unique qualities and strengths of each person I work with to evoke change and emotional wellness.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
