My work in marriage ministry and with families and couples enables me to walk with you through the challenges life brings. Providing a safe, supportive and confidential environment for my clients to explore and process past and present issues is my goal in therapy. Promoting healing of the individual and the family unit is my heart's work and I dedicate myself to helping my clients reach their potential.

I am Amanda Prior a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia. I have experience working with at risk youth, children, adults, families, and couples. My experience has been working in a residential setting as well as private practice. I have completed my education and continue training to work on a professional level to help you. In addition, I too have had my own challenges and life experiences so I know how difficult working on ourselves can be. I have a deep appreciation for the courage that it takes to seek help and to start therapy. Talking about our feelings, experiences and thoughts can be extremely hard.

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2008. I graduated from Georgia State in 2005 with a Masters in Professional Counseling. For the last 21 years I worked with North Point Ministries as a Director in the Care Network. I started my private practice in 2017 and left my full time job in ministry to focus solely on counseling in 2021.

I am a passionate wellbeing leader who understands the importance of self-care in order to get the most out life. My unique background has allowed me to work with disabled patients in rehab programs, serve as a coordinator of wrap-around services for children with special needs, and gain experience in corporate positions that require attention to detail and demand work-life balance. This journey has taught me to be empathetic to my client's circumstances. I have a client-centered approach that considers every aspect of their lives, and meet each person where they are in their mental wellness journey.

There are times when life challenges are difficult to navigate alone and additional support is needed. I am willing to walk with you on this journey until you are stronger. I also offer training, consultation & technical assistance to professional staff. I am competent in the delivery of evidence-based treatment within various settings. My roles as a military spouse with son's currently serving, former coach and athlete provides a unique set of skills. My clinical services are best suited for Adults,/ Young Adults/Teenagers; Offender/ Mandated (Adult & Juveniles); Veterans, Service Members & their families, Mental Health Professionals and Correctional Staff.

Throughout my years of studying Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I've gained experience working with a wide range of clientele. From high school students struggling to achieve academic goals, to couples wanting to strengthen their communication and emotional understanding, as well as families that are trying to navigate challenging situations, every person who comes to therapy is unique and deserves to be treated as such. I strive to create a comfortable and supportive therapeutic atmosphere so we can work collaboratively on the topics that have brought you to counseling.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my approach to therapy. I have over 5 years of experience working with people to heal trauma. Traumatic events could include any experience a person perceived as threatening. My therapeutic modality is using a combination of Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Internal Relationship Focusing (IRF). I believe each client's body has the wisdom to guide us, client and therapist, through the resolution of trauma symptoms. I love to work with people who have spent considerable time in talk therapy and are now looking for alternative approaches.

My ideal client is someone who's ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. They may be dealing with a range of challenges, from stress and anxiety to relationship issues or a desire for greater self-understanding. What they need most is a compassionate and experienced guide, someone who can help them navigate their emotions and thoughts, and empower them to take control of their actions and choices. My clients seek to set meaningful goals for themselves, whether in their relationships, careers, or personal development. They want to unlock their potential and tap into their inner wisdom.

The eclectic combination of Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, EMDR, reality based, solution focused and psychoeducation therapy interventions allow her to serve adolescents, adults, couples, and groups in a variety of mental health-related areas.

With over 33 years of personal recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, I specialize in recovery from substance use disorders, pornography addiction, sexual/intimacy issues, self-image/gender, anxiety, and depression. Individual or relationship counseling available.
