I work with individuals, couples, families; addressing a number of issues: eating disorders, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, and self esteem.
One of the most important parts of therapy is the connection you have with your therapist. I feel that a person needs to be comfortable with me and like me in order to be able to share their stories, their struggles, their secrets. I try to facilitate this comfort by learning about what your needs are and meeting you at where you are currently in your life. We'll work collaboratively to figure out what's working and not working within your life and how we can adjust it to help you feel balanced.

One of the most important aspects of successful therapy is the trusting, respectful therapeutic relationship we will build together.
Coming to therapy is a time to reflect upon yourself, your relationships, and the quality of your life. Whether you're feeling just a little "stuck" or find yourself facing significant life crises, therapy can offer relief. During my more than 20 years of providing therapy, I have helped adolescents and adults learn new skills, feel validated, and be heard. My specialty is working with clients suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, panic attacks, OCD, emetophobia, and attention issues. I provide a safe, supportive, compassionate space to share your feelings freely and explore the changes you are looking for.

My specialty is working with men and women, ages 18 and older, in the context of individual, couples and family therapy.
The challenges facing men and women today are very different than they have been in the past. Our roles have changed drastically over the past several decades: in the home, in the workplace and in society at large. Many of us struggle to balance our increasing career demands with the emotional needs of our families and friends. I draw from my experience as a Wall Street executive and extensive clinical training, to help my clients identify important coping strategies which enable them to enjoy success in the business world, and improve their relationships with spouses, children and friends.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
