I have also added teletherapy to my practice providing clients with flexibility and convenience to access therapy.

Hello. I'd like to introduce myself and tell you a bit about my background. I have a deeply held passion for helping people transform their lives. My expertise is in the areas of sexual trauma and abuse, eating disorders, and marriage and family counseling. My preparation and education includes advanced training in sexual trauma, complex trauma, and sexual addiction through Masters and Johnson. As an affiliate faculty member at Regis University and former Assistant Professor at Colorado Christian University, I have also taught graduate courses in each of these fields.

Everyone is different and that's okay. We all struggle and that's okay. We all deal with difficult and hard times and sometimes we just need a little support. During our journey together we will travel those difficult areas in life while discovering those personal strengths you already possess. My hope is that through a strong relationship built on trust, understanding, and even a little humor we will find a level of healthy freedom. As we work together you may discover that your journey would best be traveled with someone else, so it is important you find someone who is a good fit for you.

I have 20 years of clinical experience working with couples, families, teens, school age children and adults. I believe my work has greatly contributed to enhancing the lives of my clients. I utilize a strength-based approach, which helps families to see beyond the problem and see opportunities for change. I strongly believe in building on family strengths to improve relationships and family functioning. I provide consultation and parent education designed to empower, educate and support parents in developing effective parenting strategies.

Working with individuals who have a history of trauma, whether it be a single-episode trauma or a multiple-event/chronic trauma is where I find my passion. I enjoy using a myriad of approaches to decrease the symptoms interrupting your life; whether that be anxiety, avoidance, stress, flashbacks, etc. I additionally enjoy working with couples who are facing relationship difficulties including communication concerns, finding a deeper connection, or resolving past wounds.

Work sucks! Your professional life is supposed be rewarding, not a pain in the neck that causes endless stress and anxiety. It’s hard to get up every morning and go to a job that drains the life out of you. And you spend all your time at work – in-person during the day and through your anxious thoughts that you drag home at night. Sleep doesn’t come easy. Your mind keeps you wide awake, as it struggles to make sense of your life. You wonder what you need to change to break free of this misery. Hobbies and activities that used to take the edge off aren’t working like they used to.

I have been counseling since 1991, my passion has been to help people achieve their greatest potential using counseling, spiritual direction and techniques designed to assist the mind and body work more optimally, creating a renewed sense of health and well being. I have particularly enjoyed working with people desiring to heal and strengthen their own sense of self, marriages, working through life challenges and long term goals as well as discerning direction at times of major life transition.

I enjoy working with people who are perplexed by disruptive habits and patterns in their lives, confused by disruptive emotions and behaviors. This can include but is not limited to depression, anger, anxiety, substance abuse, and relational issues. My approach will help facilitate a compassionate understanding of yourself and illumine a path toward greater freedom.

For the last seventeen years I have provided services to individuals and couples with a broad range of mental health concerns. I like to avoid placing labels on people and tend to focus on presenting problems. I believe in helping people find their inner strengths and assist individuals in using those strengths to move toward recovery. I have experience in helping those with mood, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse and relationship problems, to supporting those struggling to cope with severe and persistent mental illness or psychotic issues.

Life seems to be turned upside down. Daily stress, worry of finances and not knowing what is going to happen next, is pushing you over the edge. You have not thought of yourself as an anxious person, but now it’s difficult to contain the worry. Life before did not feel lonely but now you feel alone. You have decided it is time to work through the deeper things that you have been pushing to the back burner for too long. You want to feel like you can breathe again and have peace.

My approach to therapy is holistic in nature. What affects our minds, affects our emotions, our bodies, our spiritual self, and our relationships with others. I follow the premise that we as human beings are whole at our core. Due to life experiences, we learn to "disown" the parts of ourselves that we do not like. To aid in this process of becoming whole again, I utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, and Jungian theory. As you become whole again, you grow. As you grow, you become wiser and better able to handle the challenges of life.

Trauma can have an impact on many parts of your life causing feelings of stress, anxiety, depression and at times, physical pain and discomfort. Luckily, you do not have to go through this alone. As your therapist I will work with you hand-in-hand to help you work through your feelings of stress, anxiety, and pain towards a brighter future healing both the mind and body.
