I became a therapist because I believe in the transformative power of therapy and its ability to destigmatize mental health. I’m passionate about fostering a strong therapeutic relationship, one built on empathy, loyalty, and trust. Witnessing my clients feel respected, cared for, and understood as they learn to navigate their mental well-being is incredibly rewarding. I am also a LGBTQIA+ allied therapist.

If you struggle with mastering your circumstances, they may end up mastering you. This is a reality we all face, but the time and effort required to do so can be overwhelming. My experience is centered around neurodivergent populations who struggle with emotions and executive functioning. I view each client with holistic, person-centered views of a unique and complex individual rather than just a diagnosis. As an abstract thinker, I specialize in helping you tie the pieces together in a new, autonomous and empowering way. I strive to be genuine and collaborative in sessions-- come talk to me about anything, I would love to listen!

As your therapist I will work hard to provide you with the tools to overcome obstacles and reach your personal goals. Unlocking your potential will be our primary aim along with developing an awareness of how we create our own blocks. You will also work towards becoming more yourself as strange as that may sound! This involves getting in touch with your own psyche to discover, or rediscover, what makes you tick. It can be an incredibly rewarding process.

You may vacillate between highly anxious and just going through the motions: numb, disconnected, checked out. You feel overwhelmed with your daily life- tense, tight, constricted. Some days, even though you are trying your best, you blow up at the drop of a hat. Things that used to be easy make you feel anxious and fearful. You may feel like you are at the bottom of a well. Whether you know how you ended up here, or if you feel confused and uncertain, therapy can open doors to new ways of being that help you to feel like yourself again.

Do you have a lingering sense of emptiness? A feeling that something is missing, but not sure where to start? Are you stuck in the past, anxious about the future, and unable to enjoy the present? Like you, I have been there. I know how hopeless it can feel. Struggling with relationships and connection is the main focus in my work, and I help individuals like you start to feel more secure in relation with others and yourself. We all have an individual blueprint of attachment, where we might feel a sense of constant anxiety within our relationships, or maybe feel a need to withdraw or detach.

Many women struggle with irritability, overwhelm, shame, and loss of identity during their transition to motherhood. You recognize the intricate dance between parenting and personal healing, especially when the echoes of your past trauma resonate deeply within. It's possible to interrupt the cycles of intergenerational trauma and restore your balance, centeredness, and joy for motherhood.

Research studies have established conclusively that the most important and impactful aspect of counseling is the quality of the therapeutic relationship, regardless of methodologies.
The power of the spoken word, and understanding its limits . . . Incorporating and expanding the impact of talk therapy to include somatic and relational components . . . Collaboration as the path to change and growth . . . I bring this frame to my practice of psychotherapy. If invited, I will join you in your search, as you find and open the doors that beckon to you, or that feel elusive. I am committed to social justice and deep ecology, and maintain awareness of the impacts of privilege, especially my own, and of systems of oppression.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
