Through the therapeutic process, I support each client in developing a secure and harmonious relationship with their unique interconnected parts: Mind, Body, and Soul, while meeting them where they are in their healing process.
Beginning your therapy journey can make you feel vulnerable and exposed which is why I believe finding a therapist you can truly connect with is crucial to your well-being and growth, just like other relationships in our lives. We all have individual strengths, challenges, cultures, and experiences that have formed our multifaceted identities. These dynamics influence how we interact with ourselves and others in our daily lives and continue to shape us throughout life transitions.

I specialize in individuals, couples, family, and child therapy.
My therapeutic approach stems from the belief that at some point in our lives, we all could benefit from speaking to a professional to help us navigate through whatever issues are holding us back. For some, the desire to seek support happens early in life and for others it happens later. Whether issues stem from life changes, mental health disorders, or external stressors, I believe now is always the right time to start working towards a greater understanding of yourself and your needs. Through working in collaboration with my clients, I hope to help them heal and become the best version of themselves that they've ever known.

Connection, depth, creativity and personal evolution are the goals for all sessions, rooted in belief that the techniques we use in therapy are only as powerful as the relationships we build.

For over 30 years, I've helped adults, couples, children, and parents move past hurdles that got in the way of having better lives and stronger, more loving relationships. My clients are often successful, with lives that look good and in many ways, are good. But so often underneath are feelings of unworthiness, perfectionism, chronic stress, ineffectiveness, loneliness, and a need to please. We'll get to know you and your needs; understand early experiences that drive many of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; and take advantage of your brain's natural ability to "rewire" itself as you move toward change.

If you are ready to get better, I am here to help you! I am extremely empathic which is great for clients (not so great for me, ha) I specialize in depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders and couples therapy, I can help you to better understand yourself. Without even being aware of it, many of us recreate the same destructive patterns in life over and over again. Through the process of therapy, these patterns can be broken and a new and happy you can take hold. But you won't feel better without first understanding what makes you do the things you do. I do zoom, phone and in-person sessions. I look forward to speaking with you!

With couples/families, I further support each member in feeling heard and allow for understanding of individual needs within the family unit.
Life transitions can be an overwhelming experience. Changes within relationships, school/ work positions; shifts in family systems, i.e. a new child or struggling marriage; or managing stress involved with parenting/ care-taking. Transitions may lead one to feel unprepared, discouraged, or unheard. With personal experience, in addition to working in the field of mental health and addiction, I have worked to help individuals in navigating through these changes. My hope is to provide support to you/ the family in establishing a better understanding of one's needs, as well as identifying personal and interpersonal struggles.

Does the distance between you feel unbearable at times? Perhaps you can't find the will or the courage to draw near your partner. Resentment and distrust may have widened the gap. Though reactive fights stand in the way of the tenderness you need, your heartfelt friendship could be just below the surface. Hoping it will get better, we wait to get help, while patterns reinforce distance and a negative view of each other. We become less willing to reveal ourselves or seek comfort and friendship from our most important person. You both really deserve your measure of happiness.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
