After many years of providing individual & couples therapy, I find that an individually-tailored approach to each client, integrating a variety of well-studied methods works best.
You are so tired of not feeling well, but hesitate to contact a therapist: Can I trust a stranger? Can anybody really help me? On the face of it, you function well in life, but deep inside you feel you don't actually “show up,” or you don't fully “belong.” It is as if your real authentic self is hiding, sensing that “being you” might not be safe enough. Aspects of your life story might explain why you feel uncomfortable, why you feel different than others, or why you are down or anxious. I would love to help you explore such issues in therapy, and work with you on improving your daily life experience.

Are you someone who would like to have a better relationship with food and exercise? Or someone who is ready to heal from past trauma? Using a HAES-informed approach, I specialize in helping clients utilize the skills needed to succeed in recovery. As a former collegiate athlete, I have great interest in how to incorporate athletic experiences, and one’s identity as an athlete, into therapeutic treatment for eating disorders. Additionally, I am trained in Cognitive Processing therapy and use this modality with clients with PTSD to help them adopt the thought processes needed to reduce the impact of their traumas on their wellbeing.

Do You Find It Impossible To Communicate Without Fighting? Have You Thought, Said Or Heard, "I Love You, But I'm Not In Love With You Anymore?" Has An Affair Already Happened? Need Help In Making A Decision? Helping People Who Ask The Question.... "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" Do you lie awake at night thinking about whether or not you should stay in your relationship? Do thoughts go through your mind over and over again worrying that leaving would hurt someone you care about and you could end up alone if you did?

I am incredibly passionate about working with couples and assisting with identifying the deeper roots of their struggles, so each member can get what they need and the couple can rebuild from the ground up.
I deeply value peoples' ability to be honest and kind to themselves so they can recognize when change is needed, but also forgive themselves for having struggled... because struggling is human. We all struggle, we all make mistakes, and we all have been in a place where we may not have presented as our best selves. Things in life can be difficult and we may lose sight of our importance and value in this life. I want you to know that I am here to remind you that you matter and that you are so much stronger than you realize or may give yourself credit for.

Welcome! I am passionate about my work and take great pride in the therapeutic relationships I have built overtime with my clients, which is why I believe in tailoring counseling to each individuals unique needs. Therapy is most effective when a trusting relationship exists between a counselor & the client. Some relationships hurt us while others are meant to heal. I believe that my job isn't to tell you what to do or how you live your life but to provide a safe, trusting environment where you express yourself & have an experience of being listened to without judgment & together we come up with creative solutions.

Others may use some help with improving communication and relationship.
I have 3 specialties: sex therapy, sleep treatment, and child/teen mental health. Mind & Body Garden Psychology is a Mandarin-English multicultural group practice with 20+ bilingual therapists, psychiatrists, etc. We provide psychotherapy and neuropsychological assessment services, and see our roles as gardeners. When people come to us seeking support, they may have too many branches of mental blocks and bushes of stress in their lives. What we can do is to help people be more aware of the branches and bushes that impact their quality of life, and then assist them to trim these parts, cope with stress, and live happily.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
