I have immediate openings for couples and teens! Telling your story, and making space for the feelings, in front of another person is courageous and can be healing. The human experience is an exhausting one. Acknowledging its impact on your functioning, and where that comes from, can help you access the meaning and beauty life has to offer. My aim is to help you alleviate your pain by fostering a non-judgmental, safe space. With curiosity, we’ll explore your story to become more aware of your feelings and patterns of relating to yourself and to others toward deeper fulfillment.

I want to help you find the love that you want -- with yourself and with others. I work with individuals and couples, focusing on bringing more love, kindness, and acceptance to your life and relationships. Individuals have worked with me to explore such things as anxiety, depression, trauma resolution, relationship worries, boundaries, and childhood wounding. I also work with couples to navigate such topics as infidelities, communication, developing intimacy, navigating trauma as a couple, transitioning from a monogamous relationship to an open one, and much more.

Therapy is a process of self-reflection and conversation that honors the struggles of life: career uncertainty, relationship decisions, loneliness, grief, and the ongoing pursuit self-love.
Learn how to feel more connected to yourself, others, and the world around you. Therapy provides all the elements of intimacy: honest communication, vulnerability, and trust. Good therapy is challenging yet warm, providing both structure and empathy for your unique experience.

I have a particular passion for working with couples to help them address conflicts such as communication, sexuality (LGBTQ), sexual trauma, anxiety, past relationship trauma, lack of intimacy, coping skills, relationship transitions, polyamory, infidelity, depression, and emotional regulation.
Relationships take work, but sometimes we don't know what work needs to be done, or how to do it in a way that strengthens the connections between us. That's where I come in. Therapy is like an objective mirror that reflects thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Through this mirror, you can begin to see a clearer picture of your relationship, so much so, that eventually you can carry that image outside of the therapy room & be happy & confident in what you see. In my work, I provide a space for vulnerability & understanding that allows these connections to foster change. We'll collaborate to make a plan that fits your specific needs.

For couples, I employ emotionally focused therapy to navigate relational challenges.
I have always been curious about what causes suffering, how we find meaning, and how we can heal and grow. I specialize in working with clients seeking assistance with negative self-talk, anxiety, relationship issues, post-traumatic stress, and navigating the complexities of breakups. Additionally, I work with couples on issues such as high conflict, communication, separation, and divorce. I offer a compassionate space to heal, reflect, grow, and rebuild.

My areas of focus are the inner critic, ACOAs, couples struggling in their relationship and individuals seeking relationships.
It can be vulnerable to start therapy; it takes courage. I believe it can be very rewarding and is one of the most powerful paths of transformation. Being in therapy is an opportunity to look at your life, and to learn new ways of relating to yourself, to others, and to your circumstances. This process can ease the pain of whatever difficulty you may be going through. It is an opportunity to not have to be alone with your pain, but to have the support and guidance of someone who is familiar with the terrain of the human psyche.

I have worked with a variety of individuals and couples, adolescents and adults for 25+ years.
Living a life that feels true to ourselves may take additional support and understanding. Sometimes life becomes overwhelming, either because we are faced with trauma, loss, illness and other transitions, or because we are experiencing unexplained feelings that are keeping us in a stuck place. I would like to work together with you to help you better understand yourself and create the changes that you want to see in your life. My style is relational and authentic. I want you to feel supported and better able to become who you want to be. I use mindfulness and CBT when helpful.

I'm a non-binary therapist offering gender affirming care to other trans, non-binary and queer individuals. My approach is warm, curious, trauma informed, and relationship-centered. So much of our trauma as a species has occurred in relational contexts. Therapy can be an opportunity to re-define and discover what it means to be in healthy relationship with ourself and others. Through building our therapeutic relationship together, I think we can uncover a lot about how you move through the world, where you get stuck, and how you relate to others.

I help people build strong, connected and intimate relationships--with their partners, spouses, families or themselves. I particularly enjoy working with couples to improve communication and bring an end to fighting. I also provide reproductive counseling to people who are building families in non-traditional ways, whether due to medical infertility or "social infertility" (LGBTQ and single parents-to-be).

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
