People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. If you’re struggling with anxiety, depression or relationship issues, your symptoms may indicate a need for change. The prospect of change can be daunting, but you don’t have to go it alone. As your therapist, my intention is to provide a safe place to unpack and address the issues. If you feel you've exhausted your resources to cope, there is hope. Whatever your goals for therapy, my hope is to support you to understand and accept yourself more deeply. Ultimately, my goal as your therapist is to help you navigate the way to the felt sense of peace and contentment you may be seeking.

During these stressful times, more than ever people need support for positive change. Being able to connect with someone can open up the possibilities for better relationships, and a better life. Finding someone to partner with can help make the shift from suffering in silence to working together to create solutions.

I believe that the relationship between a therapist and client can be utilized as a space where you could experiment with different ways of relating to yourself and/or others.
Most people who reach out to me feel like there's some sort of a gap between what they want and what they have. This gap is uncomfortable, upsetting, or might be painful. And often it's unclear why this gap exists or what can be done to close it or at least narrow it down a bit. Each one of us has a set of life circumstances that need to be taken into account when attempting to improve on our lived-experience. Psychotherapy is the arena in which those personal circumstances, individual preferences, needs, wants, and struggles can be explored.

I am willing to act as a compassionate, skillful partner, even a catalyst, on your pathway to Self-discovery, health and transformation.
My clients seek integrative solutions to complex and distressful problems for their own or their children's thoughts, emotions, and bodily experiences. While talk-based therapies are helpful, a relational approach may not be enough to solve acute or chronic mental health challenges. Yet, anxiety, depression, insomnia, OCD, PTSD, or developmental-learning disabilities often respond to personalized and holistic mind-body approaches. My ideal client is looking for more than an expert to talk with about their challenges or symptoms. They are open to exploring new methods and strategies to beneficially transform their life.

Partner with a seasoned, skilled, and compassionate listener and problem-solver.
Let’s be honest: you’ve always been responsible, and now you’ve got a lot to manage! Between a demanding career, school, and family needs, you’re feeling stressed, and life feels out of balance. It’s impossible to do it all, and nothing ever seems good enough. You feel alone and worried, and your social network isn’t able to provide you with the support that you need. Perhaps your sleep is problematic, or your energy is low. Maybe you’re feeling anxious, depressed, irritable, or having difficulty concentrating. You might be troubled by feeling that you're an ineffective partner or parent. Things will get better soon, right?

I work with individuals and couples and speak Hindi.
East meets West. It is a phrase we hear often but how does it translate into practice? The pull lies in the strength of the familiar; the push is an urge to create space and jump into the unfamiliar. As an individual who was raised between two cultures, I offer a warm and safe space to discuss cultural competency as it relates to your life. Retaining your cultural values and traditions while simultaneously assimilating to the societal norms of your geographic upbringing can lead to many questions about ourselves in the past, present and future. I believe strongly in your ability to grow if nurtured in an encouraging environment.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
