I'm qualified to help with many challenges; however, I specialize in helping adults / couples work through trauma, improve communication, set boundaries, and live authentically in order to create lasting change.
Are you feeling lost? Or maybe out of control, burned out, stuck, or like an imposter? Are you or your loved ones repeating behaviors, relationships, or situations, and wishing you could break the cycle? Maybe little things feel more stressful than usual. Sometimes, we aren't sure what causes our distress, but we can sense we're not reaching our potential for health, happiness, or success. Even when we know the cause, change can still feel impossible. That's where I come in. My job is not to judge you; it's to listen, help you understand the root causes of your difficulties, and teach you practical tools to help change your life.

I work with individuals, couples, and adolescents to explore experiences of attachment trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD, intrusive thoughts, personal and familial substance use/addiction, compulsions, eating disorders, questions of gender and sexuality, immigration, and adoption.
My practice has primarily derived from an education in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, emphasizing close attention to your developmental history, relational patterns, inhibiting defenses and the neglected power of your inner life. I understand the vulnerability it takes to open yourself up to a therapist, and I promise to join you with patience, strength, and hope on your path to self-understanding. With collaborative and creative intention, I can help you widen your point of view, increase your tolerance for complex emotions, integrate fragmented parts of yourself, and discover the uncharted material within you.

Together we can create a healing space that is fit to your needs, whether that is exploring your identities or coping with dysphoria, chronic illness and pain, practicing new relationship patterns, or processing the weight of oppressive systems.
As a queer, trans, chronically ill therapist, my approach to therapy centers you as the expert in the room. I believe the wisdom in your lived experience will help us collaboratively create a healing space that supports you. Most of the people I work with inhabit identities resistant to social norms primarily adolescents and adults who are transgender, non-binary, polyamorous, and or neurodivergent. I also provide support to caregivers and family members of transgender youth and other LGBTQIA+ folks.

Starting a new relationship is a big step. And one of the most important steps in therapy is finding a therapist to build connection and space for healing. I aim to co-create an attuned, safe, and collaborative relationship. Where we go in your therapeutic journey centers around your goals and individuality. Together, we can explore problem narratives, relationship patterns, oppressions that may impact you, and mind-body connection with warmth, curiosity, and compassion. I hope to accompany you through the (re)discovery of your inherent resilience to pursue growth that enables you to live authentically and explore new possibilities.

Hi there, I'm Kane. I'm a queer and gender-fluid therapist. I work with a range of clients including individuals, couples, hinge relationships, and polycules. I typically work with folks seeking a better understanding of themselves and their surroundings. We may be a good fit if you are looking for a blend of self discovery and more directive skills based approaches. I believe we are constantly balancing and negotiating between acceptance, validation, and change. My hope is for clients to gain insight into their current circumstances as well as to feel empowered with tools to manage stress, difficult emotions, and conflict.

Are you an emerging professional experiencing anxiety, relationship distress, or dissociation? Are you often hypervigilant, insecure or disconnected from your body? Do you feel you can't trust yourself? Are you aware of self-defeating behaviors, but can't seem to change them? You may have had a "late-in-life" diagnosis, realized your gender or even childhood weren’t what you thought they were. You may have had a recent breakup, job change, newborn or Saturn Return. Wherever you’re at, you want long-lasting change and a Right-Fit Therapist. Someone who is not only Neurodivergent-affirming, but who is Neurodivergent themself.

I am committed to providing a space which is stigma-free and sex positive: supportive of expansive relationship structures, as well as sex-work, and kink.
It can be difficult to find a dedicated space in which you can safely process your experiences. I would consider it a privilege to try and build that trust with you. As a therapist, it is my responsibility to ground myself in curiosity and humility as I bear witness to your life's navigations. Whether that be pleasure, anxiety, identity, interpersonal dynamics, chronic stress, life transitions, personal or sociopolitical heartbreaks- we can explore your experience together. Through connection and collaboration, we can rewrite and expand the stories we tell ourselves and those told to us, allowing for more room to breathe.

I offer a collaborative space for teens and adults seeking individual or couples therapy.
The teenage years are filled with anxieties of self discovery and identity. As a young adult you may have parts of yourself you feel like you must hide. You may feel like there are conflicts with who you are, and how you currently present in the world. You may be coming to a deeper understanding of your gender or sexual identity. It can be hard to know how to talk to your parents. This can be a scary time filled with a lot of fear, curiosity, uncertainty, and grief; all of which can complicate your relationship with your family and friends. Together we can explore ways to find a little more ease in the journey.

I believe we heal in relationship with others, including our unique and sacred relationship with our therapist.
People seek therapy for so many reasons, but mostly we all want to feel loved, safe and understood. We want to feel a sense purpose & feel good enough as we are, and yet so many of us struggle to feel these ways. Sometimes our lives look very different than we imagined & we need help making sense out of things. We might be feeling numb or disconnected, uncertain or alone. We might be questioning the direction we are heading and need to find some hope or clarity. Self compassion & radical self-acceptance are cornerstones of my work. I'd like to explore these concepts with you and help you make meaning of your life and sense of self.

I am passionate about working with Women, LBGTQIA+, QPOC, descendants of immigrants, couples, non-conventional couples, folks who are marginalized by systems of power and privilege, and people that reside within subcultures (ie:punks, goths, organizers, etc).
We all go through challenges. Oppressive experiences, trauma, dominant narratives, and social conditioning from our upbringing affect our emotions, moods, nervous systems, and sense of self. These experiences show up as: identity/sexuality issues, depression, anxiety, low self-value, difficulty staying present, and problems with our interpersonal and romantic relationships. You want to make changes and be seen, but it's scary and difficult if you don’t know how or know where to start. By working together, we can safely work towards finding the authentic, whole person that already resides in you.

Choosing a therapist is an important decision. Therapy tends to work best when there is a strong relationship between you and your therapist. My goal is to create an environment where you feel seen, heard, cared for, and understood. Processing your experiences in therapy helps to deepen self-awareness, and can positively impact your mood, functioning, and interpersonal relationships. The therapeutic process can be both challenging and rewarding, so the ideal client is one who is up to the challenge.

As humans, our most basic and fundamental need is to be seen and heard; unfortunately, many of us don’t get to experience that. As a result, we become disconnected and withdrawn as life progresses, but more importantly, we become disconnected from ourselves. My goal as a therapist is to create a container for you to reestablish that connection in a way that feels safe enough for you. I utilize a holistic, integrative, and relational approach to therapy, recognizing you are the expert of your lived experience and the relationship you have with yourself is the most important.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
