I believe the therapeutic relationship is an important piece of the process through which growth and healing can occur. Helping clients to feel safe enough to share their feelings is paramount, and to offer hope is vital. It is important for the fearful to know that courage is being afraid, but doing it anyway. This concept promotes self esteem, and helps people to move forward in their lives. I use a variety of theoretical orientations, but chose the ones that are best suited for my client needs. I give clients tools to work with that will help them change their negative thoughts to positive ones..

Couples searching for more passion or change in their relationships.
I promote growth and healing through compassionate insight, reflection and strategic direction! Acquired Knowledge seems most beneficial when put to use to benefit ourselves or others, for as we serve and engage with others, we more readily discover our true selves. I subscribe to Emerson's notion; "Do the thing, and you will have the power" rather than give me the power and then I will act! I enjoy being a contributing factor to others growth and advancement and relish witnessing the blossoming of added confidence, enhanced self-esteem. and true growth!

It's time to move forward. Are you feeling stuck in destructive behavior patterns, having relational issues or signs of depression and anxiety? Would you like to have the opportunity to gain insight into your life? I help clients develop skills and tools they can use in their daily life and relationships. Developing a therapeutic relationship is essential to encourage change and therapy sessions need to be an emotionally safe place to resolve the issues that are detracting from your enjoyment of life. Don't settle for life the way it is, we can work together to help you make changes that will improve your life.

I am dually licensed as an MFT and a Psychologist. I am also a hypnotherapist. I treat many conditions. Depression, Anxiety and PTSD for example. I believe that the therapeutic connection is essential; I respect my youngers as well as my elders. However, I believe that what differentiates a psychotherapist from a paid friend is a mastery of the unconcious. I therefore include in my practice methods that tap into a person's inner knowledge of self: EMDR, Natural Processing, hypnosis, inner child work and Gestalt dreamwork. I see the unconcious as the last frontier, and we are pioneers!

I specialize in numerous issues but especially children and teens. I believe in working with my patients. When you come to my office you are trusting me with your life or your child's life. I want to work as a team and for you to ask questions as needed. Most people are coming to therapy for stressful reasons and I am ready to help I treat everyone I work with like a family member. But I am kind and get the job done because that is why you came to me. I look forward to working with you.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
