Some ways I can help include giving you practical tools to increase your resiliency, communicate with your partner for the connection you seek, manage anxiety for a full life, heal through depression to reengage in life, help you reach your goals when a life change is needed, and empower you as a parent with parenting techniques that work.
Many people lead busy lives. It's easy to lose direction and feel disconnected from yourself or others. There are times when life 'pulls the rug out from under you' and you need a roadmap to get moving in the direction you want it to go. Perhaps you need more support and aren't feeling enough resiliency to cope. You may be longing for a happy, fulfilling life; yet struggle because your important relationships aren't working. For example, your home life is being impacted by parenting issues. You may need help with communicating in a way that is heard by others and with learning how you can make the changes you want in your life.

I have experience and training in working with domestic and sexual violence, and work with children, couples, and individuals.
It takes a lot of courage to take that step forward and seek help. At some point, the pain of staying where you are can become overwhelming, and you're ready for something to change. You are not alone! I will work to hold a safe space for you and walk beside you as we explore both your strengths and your long-standing behavior and thought patterns that have supported you in the past but maybe aren't serving you anymore.

Hi! I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families to identify and understand their feelings and needs, and communicate them in useful ways. Life is uncertain and always changing, and I believe we can guide ourselves through difficult times by tuning into our thoughts and feelings and the stories we tell ourselves. In my sessions I encourage people to learn about themselves and develop skills to manage disregulation and difficult emotions.

I have a passion for helping others, and love working with adults, couples, and families through healing and growth.I believe that every person has the necessary resources within to overcome the obstacles in their life. Some complex obstacles, like traumatic events, can create points of fixation based on feelings of fear or helplessness. These situations that are outside of our control can leave long lasting feelings of powerlessness. Part of overcoming traumatic events involves coming to a place of acceptance that these things happened and they are not our fault.

I have patient-facing experience working at a fertility clinic with individuals and couples pursuing IUI, IVF, egg freezing, and embryo freezing treatment.
Many of us embark on a family building journey and do not anticipate challenges. This new and unexpected life stage can lead to feelings of anger, frustration, confusion, and more. The roller coaster of hope and despair during multiple fertility treatment cycles can also feel overwhelming and isolating. You may even find yourself dedicating all of your free time to fertility-related tasks and conversations, which can result in burnout. If your experience with treatment has become all-consuming, then I’m here to offer you support. In our work together, we’ll focus on restoring balance in your life while you move forward.

I specialize in couples counseling and individual counseling.
If you're reading this page right now, something isn't working in your life. You may be stuck in a harmful pattern, carrying an emotional burden you've held too long, or in a relationship that is causing you more pain than happiness; perhaps you're worried about your teen, and looking for someone to help. The good news is that problems can be solved and patterns can be changed. I can help. I provide a healing environment in which individual adults and couples discover the inner strength and resources they already have.

By centering your needs in the therapeutic relationship, in time we can create a non-judgemental and safe space for positive changes.
Are you struggling with anxiety and trauma and turning towards unhealthy coping mechanisms in an attempt to manage your emotions? Now is a trying time for almost everyone, and if you have a trauma background what's coming up in the current environment may be reminiscent of the stress, isolation, and fear induced by early childhood experiences. You don't have to handle this alone, and with clinically tested techniques to regulate the mind and body, it's possible to shift from a place of disempowerment to strength.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
