With 32 years of working with individuals and families, I specialize in helping people make changes/progress with depression, anxiety, marital discord, parenting, and other life challenges. As a therapist, I take a nonjudgemental approach in helping people take control of their lives. Some things to ask yourself: Are you dealing with anxiety, depression, or another life challenge? Does your child/adolescent need assistance in expressing feelings? Does your child/adolescent push the limits? Have you and your spouse grown apart? Becoming stronger as an individual/family and strengthening boundaries and roles are my number one goals.

Therapy provides a safe, accepting relationship, through which fear, anger, and pain lose their stronghold and are replaced with truth and confidence.
I offer professional focus on balancing life during COVID, anxiety, depression, anger management, difficulty functioning, domestic violence, trauma, history of sexual and physical abuse, guilt and shame, family addictions and codependence, self-harm, grief and loss, multi-generational family reconciliation, phase of life transitions, multi-cultural issues, parenting skills, and forgiveness. Individual, couple and family sessions are available. My approach to therapy embraces the premise that people are inherently worthy and share a common, basic need to feel heard and validated in their relationships.

One of the most important aspects in therapy is for patients to feel heard, respected, and understood. Given that each individual is unique, and no one issue is ever the same among different people, our approach is integrative and tailored to meet the needs of the person, not the "problem". we strive to create a compassionate, non-judgemental environment for patients to learn, grow, explore, challenge, and to live the life they want to be living. We specialize in working with adults - individual, couples, and family - with anxiety, depression, PTSD/trauma, relationship problems, substance abuse, ADD/ADHD, and LGBTQ issues.

Are you worried about something--or everything? Do you feel "stuck" and not sure how to get "unstuck"? Are you in a difficult place with your partner, or are you single and hating dating? Do you want a saner relationship with food? Are you intelligent and talented, yet feel dissatisfied? If so, I may be the right therapist for you. In a safe, supportive setting, you and I look at your current situation and focus on YOUR goals--not on what others think your goals "should" be.

I have been a therapist for 20 years. I have also been a client. As a client I enjoy the process of working on my relationship to self and others, processing the wounds and effects of childhood, and working to improve my ability to live in the moment with contentment, presence, and acceptance. For me therapy helps me to be intimate, to listen, and to practice loving kindness. It is an important part of my spiritual growth and over all self-improvement. This is what I enjoy with my clients… being part of their life’s journey of contentment and meaning, away from fear and always working toward love.

You don’t have to continue to experience anxiety, stress, overwhelm, or relationship difficulties, and you don’t have to do it alone.
As a creative executive woman, you have so many things on your plate! It can be challenging to balance both your work and relationships. You may be fed up with recurring anxiety or stress, feeling overwhelmed or exhausted, or like there is no way you can give one more piece of yourself to anyone. Your relationships may be floundering. One thing is for sure: you’re ready for a change! You’re ready to prioritize yourself and get some support. You’re ready to reconnect with the people who are important to you. Most of all, you’re ready to reconnect with yourself and create a life and lifestyle that is pleasurable and sustainable.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
