With over 25 years of practice experience, I provide psychotherapy for adults, adolescents and couples. The therapeutic approach I use is integrative, combining different perspectives that are proven effective by researchers. Typical goals include helping you to reduce distress, decrease self-defeating thoughts, feelings and actions, increase happiness and satisfaction, improve self-understanding and acceptance, enhance resilience and emotional control, and increase hope about your future. My professional style is empathic, interactive, and engaging. I enjoy and appreciate my job helping people move closer to their values and goals.
I also specialize in offering services to mental health professionals, physicians and other healthcare providers, LGBTQ individuals, academics, and those in the creative arts. I am an out-of-network provider for many health insurance plans, and welcome your call to discuss payment and insurance.
I received my doctorate from the University of Denver and completed my clinical psychology internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Faculty and Staff appointments include Assistant Professor of Psychology at UCLA (2008-present), MIT (2001-2006) and Assistant Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School (1986-2011).
