I have been in the counseling field for 25 years. I have extensive experience assisting clients who are experiencing emotional pain, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles and other personal challenges. I have been working in the field for over 15 years now, I have several years experience working with individuals and their family members suffering from chemical addiction and substance abuse. In today’s hard driving culture, many people are working hard and enjoying prosperity. While this is good, a wide body of research shows a high number of Americans report feeling very lonely and isolated. What are we missing? Connection. We humans are wired for close and intimate connection. When we don’t have it in our most significant relationships, especially in marriage, it is hard to find joy in anything else. What gets in the way of achieving this connection? Negative cycles and unprocessed trauma. Negative cycles take over our important relationships and unprocessed trauma can make close connection feel threatening.
