I am Clinical Mental Health Psychotherapist that specializes in working with adults struggling from behavioral & emotional issues including; mood challenges, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, & trauma. I am an Advanced EMDRIA trained, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) provider. I enjoy working with individuals who want to improve their communication, self-worth, self-esteem, & rid behavior patterns that no longer serve them. I believe that every individual is entitled to deep emotional connections with self & others, & I enjoy fostering individuals in achieving their full potential.

My approach in therapy is to respect each individual as a whole person. I believe each person knows himself or herself best. Rather than just treating the symptom(s), I attempt to get to know the person well enough to guide them into insights of the CAUSES of their problems. My ultimate goal is to help each individual achieve the healthiest level of well-being and highest developmental level of functioning. Whenever appropriate, I work with multiple members of the same family in order to strengthen the family and/or marriage.

I help individuals, regardless of their ability to name their pain, to focus on taking care of themselves to recover from relational distress, chronic pain & burnout. In our time together, we will work on restoring the trust, confidence and sense of self often depleted as a result of relational trauma and life experiences. I specialize in treating complex and attachment related trauma, bipolar I & II, as well as autism, from a relational and developmentally based perspective using EMDR, IPSRT and EFT.

I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and completed my undergraduate work at Arizona State University. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Family Resources and Human Development and a minor in Psychology. I then moved to Washington, where I practiced social work with at-risk preschoolers, teens and families for approximately three years prior to pursuing my Master's degree. I obtained my Master's in Social Work from Arizona State University with a specialization in Child Welfare and have been serving children and families since 1999. I am currently licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in Arizona.

I believe that almost all of us have the organic capacity to heal and fulfill our potential, but that past experiences have taught us dysfunctional ways to cope. The goal of therapy is to learn new ways of being so that we attain greater health, peace of mind and joy.

After high school I attended Chapman University and earned my Bachelor's in Psychology. Immediately after I went on to achieve my Master's in Social Work at the University of Southern California. Earlier experience centered around high-risk children, teens and families, as well as the seriously mentally ill (SMI) population. Since founding ACC in 2004, I have expanded my focus and training to work with youth, young adults, couples and families dealing with a myriad of mental health challenges and life transitions.

Life can definitely go sideways; I’m here to help you right what’s gone wrong. I’m probably not your typical therapist. I’m a lawyer, a mother and a mid-life divorce survivor. I’m transparent and a little unorthodox at times. You will never wonder if you are sitting with a real person. We will laugh, we may cry, and I won't mind if you drop an f-bomb or two. I will never judge you or presume to know more about you than you know yourself. Your story matters; I want to know how you show up in your life and how your history and experience coalesced to bring you here. I will not waste your time chatting; we have work to do.

My passion is working with indviduals by improving communication, boundaries, and healing trauma providing noticeabe growth for the individual and/or family members. What I have been learned with experience as an individual therapist and parent educator is the need for a safe place to share emotional responses to tramatic and/or everyday life situation and learn how to manage and share their emotions appropriateluy no matter the develop,ental stage of life.

As an EMDR Certified, Level 1-Trained IFS Psychologist, I work collaboratively with clients to generate short-term and long-term goals leading to changes which bring more acceptance, joy, and contentment in life. Along the way, skills will be developed that help clients feel more resilient which may allow them to step out of the habits & patterns that have brought frustration/angst to their lives. Clinical approaches help gain more clarity about the impact of key events, issues and patterns in life. I seek to understand the impact of one's lived experience, family history, values, etc. on development & relationships with others.
