I prioritize creating a safe and validating, yet challenging, and enthusiastic relationship with my clients.
I specialize in trauma-healing and psychedelic integration. My clinical work and training has been focused on assisting those with emotional, behavioral, and social concerns, many of which stem from a history of adverse experiences, reach a place where their actions and lives are led by True Self. I began providing therapy in a substance abuse treatment facility and am now the Clinical Director of a residential program for adults. I worked for a few years with incarcerated adolescents in a long-term secure facility. I now work with individuals of diverse ages, histories, and treatment goals. Note:

I have experience working with adolescents, adults, couples and families.
I have always believed in the power of human connection and as a counselor I offer a warm and genuine environment to my clients as they work through their challenges, begin to understand themselves better and to become more resilient. I also believe that a person’s thoughts affect their emotions, that past experiences impact present situations and the importance of living in the here and now. I enjoy working alongside my clients as they heal, grow and change. I work primarily from a person-centered approach and pull from a variety of counseling theories to personalize the therapy experience to the individual needs of each client.

I focus on betrayal trauma, relationships (parent/child, couples, individuals) and self-worth.
You’ve found that the aftermath of betrayal has left you with low self-worth. You worry that you can’t trust yourself, and and wonder if you really know who you are. Overall, you don’t feel like you are enough. I help with that. I help you regain your sense of self so that you can show up as the person you are. Whether you’ve created a habit of crossing your own boundaries, practice people pleasing, experienced infidelity, or any other forms of betrayal, you can be liberated from the hurt and feel peace.

We work with adolescents, families, couples, marriage, and individuals.
As Christian counselors, we believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He came to reveal the Father’s heart & through His life, death & resurrection He decisively accomplished Gods saving work. He engages us in the Divine Relationship that we were created by, for, through and in. We seek, along with you, the client, loving purpose, healing, & direction of the Trinity in the counseling sessions. As licensed therapist, we consider our efforts inadequate apart from the grace & presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are blessed & humbled to go to work each day & see Christ working in people's lives in an intimate way.

I have the knowledge and experience to work with couples and intimacy related struggles.
Some of the most difficult and scary steps to take are those beginning steps of change. Often times these steps are out of one's comfort zone, and the first instinct is to want to hide, run or give up entirely. Life never promises or guarantees a pain free existence! However, with first steps and the courage to try, there can be a guarantee to oneself, to learn to take on challenges, struggles, pain, hurt, hang-ups, habits, addictions, etc. At this point its ok and have acceptance of one's difficulties and to embrace it. It's possible with the right guidance, support, and building of skills to rebuild what's been broken/is breaking.

In my time working with DCFS, I have gained experience working with families that have been impacted by abuse or neglect, substance abuse, mental illness, and domestic violence. I have also worked with couples to reaffirm and strengthen relationships providing any necessary resources available to them. I believe in utilizing the bond between animals and human connection to heal their deepest traumas in the form of Equine Therapy. I also utilize my horses and animals as the self-care part of my life.

I am on the Supreme Court Roster for Mediators, trained in couples therapy with Gottman and utilize skill building and change of perception to improve lives.
Therapist focusing on trauma, skill building, and mediation. I believe mental health is simple, yet it can be frustrating because it is also complex. Too often we look for magical or quick fixes for problems when the solutions are very common. Usually it is a number of things that create the problem, not just one contributor and often our society treats the symptom not the cause. As a society we should be focusing on preventative health, getting in front of the problem, and not waiting until it has already occurred to seek help. Having said that... there is always a solution, it just may not be what you expected.

Couples work? Yeah that too.
I believe in, and practice from, a relational perspective to address substance use and mental health concerns. I believe in an individualized approach to meeting my clients where they are and addressing the concerns they believe are most relevant, which helps them reach their full potential for happiness and personal growth. I am a cognitive guy who believes that many of the problems we face can be overcome by examining the way our beliefs influence our thoughts, which influence everything else. It often comes down to thinking about how you think.

I can help you, I help women/couples with betrayal, relationships, and understanding the men in their life.
If you spoke to me the way you speak to yourself, would we be friends? You know the answer. You don't see yourself clearly, but the truth will set you free. You're not as stuck as you think you are. The way you shame and reject yourself comes from deep negative beliefs and experiences. I want to help you liberate your life, so you can become the hero of your life. Our time together will be safe and a battle; we will wrestle out the lies and false beliefs that have held you captive, so that you can transform your life into one you are excited to live. You deserve a life filled with peace and purpose; to me, this is liberation.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
