Through a relationship built on trust, respect, and genuine positive regard we can look at life's situations in this present moment with understanding of what is important to you in order to gain new perspectives and counteract faulty logic. Together the counseling process becomes successful. Walking through life can be especially difficult for those who have been mistreated within relationships, those who are struggling to find hope after a loss, or those going through a rough time. May this be a stop on your journey, where you can develop flexibility in the counseling relationship, and can continue on this magnificent road.

I have worked with individuals, couples, and families.
"Often when you think you're at the end of something, you're at the beginning of something else." There are way too many good quotes from Mr Rogers. He certainly had a way with words and valuable insight that he was fortunately able to share with the world for quite some time. I want to help others to find and understand their own strengths that they may use when they are faced with struggles. Whether you are young or old, experienced or not, you have a strength and sometimes we need a little help finding it. You can visit my website and click "Book Now" which will take you to view my availability as well.

Counseling is a pretty scary idea. Often, the clients that I work with have not experienced a safe relationship in a long time. The idea of sitting in a room and sharing your life story with someone seems like a recipe for betrayal and pain. At some point, though, the need for healing outweighs that risk and you choose to start working towards wellness. It is an uncomfortable, heavy, and ultimately extremely rewarding journey. I'm ready to get started with you.

I have been working with individuals and families for 18+ years. I practice from the belief that we often have barriers that block us from experiencing the fullness of life-relationally, spiritually, and biologically. In my office you will find a welcoming, open, and non-judgmental place to explore yourself and your life. I have lived in many countries around the world and practice from an approach that values each person's individual cultural and values. I obtained my BA from Northwest Nazarene University and my graduate degree at Eastern Washington University. I am currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Life can be difficult at times and I meet each client where "they are" in life without any judgment or criticism. Stress and anxiety can come in many forms and many ways, which can lead to feelings of being "overwhelmed." All trauma is different and each client has a different response/reaction to the same experience. I work with ALL families, couples, and individuals in processing, understanding, and learning to cope on their journey through life.

In sessions, we may work to build your anxiety-management tools, improve your relationship with your emotions, gain clarity about stuck points, challenge unhelpful patterns, or improve communication skills, all with the goal of freeing you to live a more fulfilling life.
Welcome! My name is Kenzington and I am the owner and primary therapist at Authenticity Counseling and Wellness. It can often feel like an anxiety-inducing and difficult step to begin to cultivate meaningful change in our lives. Perhaps you are feeling perpetually stuck, bogged down by negative narratives of yourself, or feeling disconnected and lost, but you are hoping to detach from these painful repeated patterns so that you can move forward with the things that are most important to you. Fortunately, you don't have to go the journey alone. Together, we can navigate this path so that you can rediscover your authentic self.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
