Vulnerability is the key to a healthy and happy intimate relationship, whether it be with yourself or a partner.
Are you feeling shrouded in shame and confusion about your sexual desires or identity? Do activities that once brought feelings of closeness and pleasure now bring up loneliness and uncertainty? Sexual issues are completely normal, and you nor your partner are broken. My goal is to help you move towards feeling self-empowered and comfortable in your own skin. Sex and sexual identity are very personal topics that can feel embarrassing or isolating to speak to someone about - everyone is deserving of happiness and inner peace, and I am committed to helping you find your voice so you can advocate for your needs and desires.

I work with a multitude of issues, however my specific areas of clinical focus are in trauma, relationship/attachment issues, identity, body image/self-worth, eating disorders, anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss, and spirituality.
Do you feel stuck in life? Do you find yourself questioning why you do the things you do, day in and day out? We all come to certain points in our lives where we take a look in the mirror and ask ourselves “who have I become?” Whether it be a momentary season of life - or a life long hardship - grief, trauma, self-worth, and relationship issues can plague us and steal our ability to fully engage in the lives we dreamed of. Instead, we settle for the isolation and suffering we know because those hopes and dreams feel unattainable. I am a firm believer that there is hope for change and hope for a brighter future.

Every individual is on a unique path filled with twists, turns, and challenges that shape their life. Sometimes, it can be helpful to walk alongside a companion who is dedicated to working with you to achieve your goals, bring you insight, and empower you to move towards genuine fulfillment. I am passionate about honoring your story and how it shapes your thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs. Because no two individuals are the same, your therapeutic work should reflect your individual needs and objectives. I blend narrative therapy, Brainspotting, somatic therapy, and parts work to help you meet your therapy goals.

I work with individuals and couples experiencing relationship challenges, feelings of anxiety and/or depression, struggles with substance use, grief, or difficulty with traumatic experiences.
At times, the pressures of life can cause us to feel overwhelmed and disconnected. Feeling our best mentally and physically helps us to be more resilient and successfully navigate life's constant changes. I want to work with you to help you feel empowered and in control of your life. I believe therapy is most effective when we work together to identify and build on your natural strengths while also challenging you to reach and maintain your treatment goals. My therapeutic approaches are grounded in evidence-based practices and my personal style is down to earth and direct, yet compassionate and caring.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
