Growing up with a physical, developmental or intellectual disability can present unforeseen challenges during adulthood. Once teenagers transition into adulthood, not only do they leave behind support services at school but they also begin a transition into more independent living at home, in a CILA or group home, or at an assisted living facility. Adults and their families can experience confusion and anxiety as they search for new resources to help them cope with the many challenges of adulthood.

My focus is on helping people improve their lives. I feel healing is a combination of art and science that encompasses therapist, individuals, couples and families. I have 25 years of experience in resolving anxiety, stress and mood disorders including relationship issues, eating disorders, milestones (death, divorce) and chronic illness.

I am passionate about helping individuals, couples and families both understand their challenges and create a pathway to healing. I have over twenty years of experience working with children, families, couples, individuals, and groups. I have ample experience working Latinx clients, immigrant families, and multiracial couples. For years, I have been working with children who have suffered traumatic events and their families. I am an American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Approved Supervisor, and I supervise Therapy students.

For the past 20 years, my goal has been to offer all of my clients the ability to create hope, while experiencing validation. I believe in providing clients with an environment of unconditional positive regard. Identifying faulty beliefs and reframing negative thought patterns helps to see results quickly. Sometimes, seeing progress requires exploring past experiences. However, it can be just as effective to examine the present, while identifying new beliefs about ourselves, and the world we live in. It is my job to assist clients in discovering the best plan for them.

As a psychologist I specialize in helping clients when life is difficult. I work with a wide age range from children to older adults. My interest as a licensed therapist in private practice is based on my background and experience. I have a master's degree from Loyola University in social work with a specialization in schools. I have gained well-rounded experience working with children, families, couples, and single adults in various settings which include schools, and psychiatric inpatient/outpatient hospitals. My personal and professional goal is to build a strong relationship with my clients by showing compassion, respect, and trust.
