I work with adults, couples and teenagers. My approach is a blend of Family Systems Theory, cognitive behavioral therapy and positive psychology. I believe the quality of our lives is mostly determined by the quality of our relationships, so my work often involved teaching communication skills, resolving conflict and applying the new but vast amount of scientific research about relationships to your own lives. We can't control the events in our lives or our feelings, but we can control our behavior and thoughts. Counseling is learning to do just that. Dr. Tim Corson is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years of experience in understanding and treating the hardships, struggles and adversities humans experience growing across their lifespan. I work specifically with prenatal and postpartum women. I also have experience with children, teens, and adults who may have experienced trauma. Often these life altering events create so much stress that behavioral and emotional problems arise. I use a variety of creative, client-centered techniques to work through these issues. I take a strengths based approach to therapy, guiding individuals to embrace and honor themselves. I use relational, attachment techniques to build trust, safety, and security that clients can take from our sessions into their lives and other relationships.

I've been in private practice since 1999 and have worked primarily in Helena, Great Falls and Missoula. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help individuals identify their attachment needs and help the couple work together to form a more secure bond. With EFT, I will help the couple or individual strengthen their relationships through emotional bonding with their partner/friend/family member.
