I primarily use an Emotionally Focused Therapy to work with individuals and couples.
Are you struggling with the sorrow of losing someone or something you love? Do you feel like you can't "get over it" and you would like someone to come along side you with kindness, compassion, empathy and support? We often attribute grief to death, but we can also grieve over lost relationships, physical abilities, employment, life transitions and many other things. Through life and loss experiences, we can lose hope, our sense of purpose and our connection with others. We can also experience transitions within our relationships that can cause us to feel disconnected and alone or hopeful and excited for a bright future together.

I see individuals and couples.
We are all going through this human experience together and we all have issues. Whether you’re struggling with motivation, anxiety, feeling stressed out, or just want someone to help you understand who you are, I am here to help you. I found counseling in my 20’s and it changed my life. I healed many wounds, my scars faded, and I found meaning in my life. If you come to counseling to do the work, you can reach your goals and live the life you want to live.

I also provide care in helping couples work on communication, intimacy, navigating conflict, handling financial stress, divorce/separation, infidelity, and parenting issues.
It takes a lot to be a person. Perhaps you've lost a loved one, are struggling through a life transition, or have regrets. Maybe you've even experienced pain and hurt by someone you thought was safe and secure to trust. Life is difficult. And yet, there's hope. We thrive in relationships and connections with others, not struggle through painful moments alone. In our work together, I promise to give you my utmost commitment toward helping you identify and grow from the challenging experiences accompanying this life.

In relationship counseling, I support couples to meaningfully engage with each other and navigate conflict in real time, where they can gain vital skills to navigate issues outside the therapy room.
Hi, I’m Taniquell. I offer therapy services to both individual adult clients and couples. I work well with people who are seeking to deepen their inner trust and confidence, find balance, and to make decisions with confidence and clarity. I generally see a lot of success with clients who are navigating anxiety, depression, physical and interpersonal trauma, or lack of meaning or direction. Many clients report increased clarity and ability to address issues, as well as an improved trust in themselves to solve problems in ways that make sense for their lives.

I work with adults and couples, anywhere from the brink of divorce to “just going through a rough time,” to deepen their connections with others and themselves, build new skills, and bring clarity to their goals and vision.
Life transitions, the demands of running a family, raising kids, a high pressure and stressful job, money concerns, and children’s needs can all erode the time and energy you have to put into your relationship. Life and relationships can be tough. What is needed to make it work often feels overwhelming, unclear, and giving up may seem like the only alternative. We need connection. We need love. We need a path. Without it, the inevitable challenges of life become incredibly difficult. But right now, you might not be thinking that.

My aim is to take the mystery out of the process, partner with you on your journey from step one, and find ways to help you get what you need/want out of each session.
Have you experienced a setback that you can't seem to shake? Do you struggle with your emotional responses? Do you feel like you're just not living your best life right now? Sometimes the things we go through in life simply overwhelm our ability to cope; they stress our brains and our bodies and we feel stuck. Understanding how these experiences affect us and what we can do to get back on track is a powerful gift we can give to ourselves. Whether it's just you, or you and a partner, who needs help...having someone to guide you on the path to healing is priceless.

Because I believe in the value of the therapeutic relationship, I am continually working on bettering myself in order to help and support others.
My treatment focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. This is achieved by providing a neutral, safe space, listening to their stories, and customizing a treatment plan. I promise my clients I will be there every step of their journey. The goal is to help them grow from their struggles, heal from their pain, and move forward in their lives after looking inward, unpacking emotions and experiences, and ultimately seeing and understanding this time of their lives through a clearer lens.

I provide a safe and comfortable environment for individuals and couples to explore their deeper selves.
I view therapy as a caring for the whole psyche. Working in a deep and supportive manner helps reveal unconscious patterns and aspects of ourselves giving space for new possibilities to emerge. Working through a Psycho-dynamic yet integrative approach I weave Jungian psychology, somatic awareness, trauma work, and dream work together to reduce the pain from past or ongoing traumas while encouraging self-expression and meaning-making. My approach is for those who are looking for tools to constructively solve life's challenges and strive to connect with the wise and creative aspects of their psyche.

I have worked with couples, families and individuals in clinical, hospital and private practice settings.
Are you feeling generally overwhelmed, stuck or lonely in your life or relationships? Are there problems or patterns you're struggling to heal? Relationships have the capacity to affect our lives in really negative ways when they aren't safe and connected. I have a passion for helping couples explore and understand relational wounds so they can heal present problems and find relief from these negative impacts. When relationships are functioning well, they can be a profound source of healing and resiliency - I want my clients to experience this change in, and outside of, the therapy space.

Do you question the relationship you're in? Do you wonder why conflict sometimes feels so difficult? Does it sometimes feel like there are patterns there that you just can't see or understand, but that maybe if you could, they wouldn't have to continue? Sometimes we reach a point where we are ready for change; where what we have been doing in our life and in our relationships, doesn’t feel good anymore. I will help you get clear on what the patterns are AND where they come from and how to shift them.

My approach to therapy pulls from many different therapeutic modalities including Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Ecopsychology, Systems Theory, and Couples Relationship Enhancement.
Many people experience a sense of dis-ease in their everyday lives, in other words a lack of ease stemming from depression, anxiety, being easily triggered or even having a hard time feeling in general. I will work with you to build the connections you need with yourself and the external world to live a more fulfilling life. Some of the most unbearable parts of the human experience become bearable when someone can go to that place in the psyche with you.

While there are thousands of quality parenting, relationship, and self-help books, finding the strategies that actually make sense and work for you, your family, and your relationships is daunting to say the least.
Relationships are the center of our lives: Depression often leads to a deep sense of loneliness. Anxiety drives the people around us crazy. Stress impacts interactions with those we love. At Center Counseling, we think about people in the context of their relationships and we work to help our clients feel more whole within themselves and in their relationships. We work with Couples, Parents, Adults, College Students, Middle- & High-School students, and Families to build healthy skills and strengthen connections.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
