Because most clients seek assistance for depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship/marital/family issues, I use supportive therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and also use if you request, a couple of specialty methods to assist our work together.
People seek therapy for various reasons, but I understand that, regardless of the reason(s), people need an active listener for support, reflection and at times, soft and/or straightforward, and respectful feedback. I honor the work my clients do and am a calm listener, as well as an active therapist when needed. I offer individual, couples/marital, and family therapy 18 years and older. I have 30 yrs of experience of varied experience and hope to help you in the ways you are looking for.

I also work with couples providing a safe but honest place to strengthen their relationship.
I don't believe in practicing from a distance, I bring my real self into the room in an accessible and open way. I am wholeheartedly invested in the people I work with and believe that therapy works best when it's a collaborative process. Ultimately, you just want a therapist who gets you, and I get that. I know it is a daunting task to select someone to support your mental health needs and for me no one is "just a client." I would be honored to work with you. My clinical specialization is Trauma.

I aim to provide an open and safe environment to address various issues that may arise in one’s life. My specialty population is couples and families, as I have personally experienced the effects of coming from a broken home, as well as surviving a chaotic family environment. I have 17 years of experience working with children and over 12 years of experience working with adults who are severely mentally ill and dually diagnosed. I find joy in helping others navigate through the roller coaster ride, and detours that life sometimes throws at us.

His goal during therapy is to work collaboratively with individuals while establishing a warm and empathetic relationship to assist each client with overcoming their barriers and obstacles.
Wellness has been defined as a way of life oriented toward optimal health and well-being in which body, mind, and spirit are integrated to live more fully within the human and natural community. Ideally, it is the optimum state of health and well-being that each individual is capable of achieving. When working together in counseling, I perceive one’s thoughts are related to their feelings and reactions to events, not the events themselves. Counseling sessions are individualized to meet the unique needs of each client.

You have always felt driven towards perfection. You attended the right schools, chose the high-pressure career, married the right type of partner, and had children with them. Everyone who knows you thinks you have it all. But something has changed everything for you. You have nagging doubts. Where you once felt in control and confident, you now feel devastated, confused, and lost. You are struggling to get through the day while your numerous responsibilities await. The pressure is starting to feel unbearable.

Going to therapy can be scary, but it doesn’t have to be. The most important tool in therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. Building that relationship and a level of trust is the first thing we will do together. If you’ve gotten this far, you must be ready for change. Whether it’s unhappiness in a relationship, noticing a pattern or cycle you want to change, or feeling ready to become the best version of yourself. My job is to help support you through this process, and give you perspectives you may not have considered before. I help people connect with their true selves and work towards healing of past traumas.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
