I believe that everyone can benefit from finding someone to talk to about life's challenges. I also recognize how hard this can be. As a therapist, my first priority upon meeting with clients is to make them feel comfortable. I offer a non judgmental space and work collaboratively with clients to develop solutions to their problems. I work hard at simply connecting with my clients in a very real and authentic way. I spend time understanding their unique challenges and tailor my treatment approach to the individual. I work with individuals, couples, and families; young adults and adults.

These are anxious times for us all. Social distancing may be exacerbating struggles you were already experiencing or perhaps it is creating new stressors. If you were already feeling lonely and isolated you may be feeling even more so now. Struggles in your relationship that were easier to avoid with a busy life may now feel inescapable. Or, perhaps this time alone has given you time to think about changes you have been wanting to make in your life but now wonder if they are possible. The future suddenly feels uncertain. Whatever you are wrestling with, chances are these extraordinary times have made them even more challenging.

I work to help you address the painful challenges you are facing in your life, whether it be in your relationships, your work, or internally with yourself. With depression, self-esteem worries, anxiety and panic, separation and loss, sexual/intimacy conflicts, work/achievement difficulties, parenting problems or addictions, my efforts with you are to use understanding and problem-solving to find relief and direction. I teach and train other mental health professionals, and emphasize the active collaboration needed to bring about change and growth.

Taking the first step to engage in psychotherapy is often a struggle. Additionally, I incorporate mind and body integration techniques, such as yoga and relaxation, which can relieve stress, anxiety and be helpful for numerous other issues.

Not only do my clients need validation and support, but they want to understand the function of their symptoms. My goal is to help clients make sense of their feelings and find ways to reduce their symptoms so that it does not interfere with their daily functioning.

I believe that therapy is most effective when provided in an authentic and nonjudgmental setting between two equals. Through my practice I have found that many issues can be alleviated or improved by making behavioral changes and sessions tend toward these present-oriented approaches, such as Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (helping to regulate out-of-control emotions), and Neurofeedback (also called EEG Biofeedback, this form of brain training is helpful for many issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, attention problems).

I am an experienced therapist working with families for over 14 years. During this time I have worked with children, adolescents, adults and couples. My clients begin therapy as a means of overcoming obstacles or issues that prevent them from moving forward toward the individual goals they have set for themselves, whatever they may be. I help them assess and explore clear and realistic goals. I developed my early expertise working with adolescents with social, emotional, family or school issues. Since my early practice and training, I have gone on to also develop expertise in individual, couple and family counseling.

I do believe each person and family has unique resources to activate healing processes. Brief Therapy requires a highly collaborative approach between therapist and clients, and focuses on practical solutions and clear communication. Brief Therapy offers a maximum of 10 sessions but usually don't need that many to promote change in the problem that is presented. I work with individuals, couples and families with a variety of problems: marital conflict and affairs, depression and anxiety, children and adolescent problems, addiction, eating disorders, stress and work related problems. I also provide online-therapy services.
