I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a great deal of experience in helping individuals, couples, and families change their behaviors, their minds, and hence, their lives. Through the use of insight and supportive therapies, noetic-behavioral and cognitive-behavioral techniques, biofeedback, hypnosis, relaxation and stress management, breathing strategies, communication training, and homework, clients are taught a variety of skills that are grounded in current scientific research and empirically tested strategies. Provided they practice these skills, clients can learn to help promote lasting change within themselves, increase their self-esteem, and build better and healthier relationships with loved ones, friends, and family.

I specialize in helping people cope with challenging life transitions, especially as related to difficult emotional situations, physical health or medical conditions. Some transitions, such as the birth of a child, are joyous, but still trying. Other transitions, like diagnosis of an illness or disability, can be frightening, necessitating reevaluation of life choices and daily routines. It's common to feel overpowered by questions about the future, but you may need skilled help to face the big questions and work out manageable solutions. I can help you reduce anxiety, fear, anger, or depression, and move towards productivity, happiness, and acceptance.

In 30 years as a therapist I have worked with individuals as young as 12 and as old as 85; with families and couples of every background and socio economic group. I have worked with patients dealing with a range of problems from the profoundly tragic to the mundane. I coach young adults to identify and eliminate obstacles blocking their transition into adulthood. We explore values, self-esteem issues, personality traits, interests, and personal and career goals. I challenge my clients of all ages to examine and adjust thoughts and behaviors which are no longer working for them.
