As a clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience, I want to understand you as a whole person with strengths as well as current difficulties. If you are looking for a therapist, it is generally because many efforts you have made to solve a problem haven't worked. You may be faced with a very difficult and painful situation, such as a relationship problem, loss, job problem, or illness. Or, you may be experiencing symptoms which are associated with emotional distress, such as chronic anxiety, social anxiety, or depression.
Together we can collaborate to set goals and decide which strategies will be most likely to help you feel better. I typically work from a psychodynamic perspective, understanding clients based on their own view of themselves and others, and looking at how patterns in relationships can be both helpful and problematic for them.
I frequently use a range of therapeutic techniques, such as behavioral, cognitive behavioral, and EMDR to help people feel better.
I am actively present and focused on creating a safe and accepting setting to explore new perspectives and try new solutions.
