My name is Dr. Cornelia Wenze, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has 35 years of experience in the helping profession. I believe therapy is a two-way interaction between the client and therapist. It requires commitment, diligence, application, and assurance. I pride myself on being a non-judgmental therapist with a unique style. It is my goal to enable my clients to learn new ways of coping with challenges using respect and compassion. I believe that individuals have within them the capacity to transform during adverse situations and have an optimum life.
My communication style includes active listening, empathy, and the ability to clearly convey information and provide feedback. I think it is important to be able to understand and work within the cultural context of my clients and be able to adapt my communication style accordingly. Clients will feel at ease and know that I am a non-judgmental therapist.
In the initial session, I want my clients to have a good understanding of what they can work towards and what to expect. I want to set a solid foundation and make sure the client is comfortable. We will do introductions and I will allow the client an opportunity to tell their story and explain the difficulties they are experiencing.
