In my practice, I welcome people from all walks of life and have had the privilege of working with a diverse clientele. I offer a compassionate demeanor, nonjudgmental attitude, and a safe environment for processing. Sometimes we need to take a “deep dive” into our history to figure out why things are the way they are. Other times, we need to learn coping skills to get through the day. Many times, we need both. I’m ready to meet you where you are, and will empower you to define your own goals for therapy.

I am compassionate, I use a strength-based approach aims at helping individuals build confidence, self-esteem, and develop healthy coping skills.
You may be angry, anxious, depressed, grieving, or just feeling overwhelm by life struggles. Taking that first step to seek out a counselor is the most important step to recovery. Regardless of what your struggles are, I believe that counseling can help. I cannot promise that the process will be easy but hope that in the end you will believe the work was worth it.

Through self-acceptance, coping skills, and healing from past traumas I learned the value of having someone support me through the process.
Maybe it’s your sexuality or gender, maybe it’s how you relationship or what you like sexually, or maybe you just move through the world differently; you’ve been othered, outcast, and feel like there’s nowhere you really fit in. Feelings of confusion, isolation and being misunderstood by everyone creep in and take over. You're afraid you'll never be able to just be yourself and be accepted for who you are. But you want, and DESERVE, to have hope for a future that includes love and acceptance from people who truly care about knowing our true selves.

Many of the patients I have helped, voluntary and court ordered, have tried multiple ways to address their problems, including seeing different therapists and/or taking medications, but have not progressed much. Many treatment approaches are superficial, focusing on reducing the number or severity of symptoms or offering only coping skills. However, these approaches most often only provide temporary relief, but never address the underlying causes of those symptoms. A reduction in symptoms is almost never what struggling people are looking for; instead they want to know where and why problems started and how to fix them permanently.

Coping Skills Therapists
With coping skills or coping mechanisms, we learn to overcome issues like stress, depression, anger or anxiety.

Pro-active coping involves dealing with a problem by using constructive coping activities such as planning, confrontation, self-control and restraint. Overuse of coping mechanisms, like avoiding problems or working obsessively, can exasperate the weakness.

Emotion based coping skills reduce symptoms by addressing our feelings e.g. discussing the issues, distraction, relaxation, reframing or humor can all help. But negative coping mechanisms, which tend to be impulsive, like denial, projection, rationalization, repression or wishful thinking can make the underlying problem worse.

Some coping methods are more like bad habits than constructive life skills e.g. drinking and drugs. Other examples might include skin biting, nail biting or hair pulling (trichotillomania).

If you find it hard to cope or are having trouble coping, therapists in Saint Louis can help develop constructive coping skills for children, coping skills for kids and life coping skills.

If you're looking for help with coping skills in Saint Louis or for a Saint Louis coping skills therapist, these professionals provide coping strategies. They include Saint Louis coping skills therapists, coping skills psychologists, coping skills psychotherapists and coping skills counseling.
