"I believe we all have a deep longing and capacity to be whole and connected to ourselves and others. NeuroScientists have validated this biological need for healthy connections as well as social researchers like Dr Brene Brown who are normalizing this desire in all of us to know and be known. My training goes beyond traditional talk therapy and encompasses Somatic and Neuroscientific practice that enables people to get to the root of their disconnection so that they can feel more alive and connected to themselves. Through the practice of integrating the mind, body, and spirit we become more whole and connected. "

Misunderstandings happen in ways that seem small but become a big deal. Some moments feel like you both can't handle the stress. You notice you're avoiding or keeping it light just to stop the dysfunction. You want to reconnect and just want to feel in love again but unclear how to get there. Complex, yet common, issues around love, family, purpose in life, and doing what truly makes you happy have become an overwhelming "white elephant" stampede and are making you feel depressed and anxious and confused. However, through various painful life experiences as children, we started to forget this truth. In my practice, I help my clients (children, adolescents, young adults in their 20s-30s) navigate and heal these experiences so that they can start creating a more fulfilling life for themselves. "Our internal selves begin to form when we are just infants, seeking trust and belief in our new uncertain world. It is in these next formative years where we develop behavioral mechanisms for coping and defending to protect ourselves. The strength and efficacy of these behaviors are determined by the environment and people that raise us. As we grow into adulthood, as our challenges grow, from the difficulty of getting through the day, pain from your past, shame from a horrific incident, or dysfunctional behavior patterns. And it can become difficult to ignore the vulnerability of our own psychology. "

You’re tired of feeling overwhelmed by trying to figure out if you’re on the right path, frustrated by an unfulfilling job or possibly annoyed by your dating life (or lack thereof). The problem is you’re not sure what else to do. You’ve spent your entire life following a carefully laid-out plan. You’ve gotten the degrees, secured the job, and landed the apartment. I work with clients one on one over the phone and/or web. If you're considering therapy, but could use coaching instead this may be the place for you! The main difference between coaching and therapy is that therapy focuses on the past and coaching focuses on the present and future. Coaching is designed to be a forward focused process. Coaching could be a very powerful alternative as there is room to work on pivot points as well as your potential."

With coping skills or coping mechanisms, we learn to overcome issues like stress, depression, anger or anxiety.

Pro-active coping involves dealing with a problem by using constructive coping activities such as planning, confrontation, self-control and restraint. Overuse of coping mechanisms, like avoiding problems or working obsessively, can exasperate the weakness.

Emotion based coping skills reduce symptoms by addressing our feelings e.g. discussing the issues, distraction, relaxation, reframing or humor can all help. But negative coping mechanisms, which tend to be impulsive, like denial, projection, rationalization, repression or wishful thinking can make the underlying problem worse.

Some coping methods are more like bad habits than constructive life skills e.g. drinking and drugs. Other examples might include skin biting, nail biting or hair pulling (trichotillomania).
