I provide supportive therapy for teens and adults looking to learn and heal from anxiety, depression, body image issues, self-esteem or life stressors. My work with individuals includes improving relationships, learning how to become "unstuck," increasing self-worth and better coping with difficult feelings. I am also trained in EMDR which allows me to support individuals who have experienced traumatic or stressful experiences and are ready to heal. My work with parents of children ages 6-16 allows me to share my knowledge on behavior modification interventions and child-focused practices to improve overall harmony at home

"You look at me but you don't see me. What happened to us? Where are you when I need you?". Let's be honest: maintaining an intimate relationship is really difficult. Maybe things aren't going the way they used to and you wonder if things can get better or if your best days are already behind you. Perhaps you find your partner pulling away and it scares you. Despite your efforts to reach out and close the gap...nothing works. It's like bending over backwards just to feel a spark of intimacy and you start thinking "What's the point of staying in a relationship like this?". And it makes sense. But it doesn't have to stay that way.

Listening to clients' struggles, I am reminded how our increasingly complicated world tests daily our capacity to adapt and cope. Relationships encounter myriad of challenges, our identity undergoes major pressures and shifts. Ourselves as well as our loved ones are faced regularly with crises and upheavals. When feeling overwhelmed, many people seek support as they reach into familiar coping modes, which may no longer be helpful. In this context, therapy may start as a unique form of education and continue as a process of self growth, a journey of profound transformation.

Want to be a power couple? I can show you how. In the past 10 years of my practice, I have seen many couples. I can’t say I’ve seen it all, but I have seen A LOT. Some fight explosively, triggered easily by a snide comment or an exaggerated exhale from their spouse. Others never fight but the distance between them is palpable minute they walk in the room and sit on opposite sides of my couch. However, one thing they all had in common is suffering due to a lack of connection and belonging. Humans are all wired for love and relationship, but unfortunately some never learn the skillsets necessary to be successful at partnership.

My clients seek to go "further faster." Many are eager to perform better in their careers. They may feel they lack focus or feel strongly they are being undervalued and overworked. They also know they are capable of much more. They are typically being paid several thousand less per month than they could be. (I know, I was once there too.) I provide the needed insight, assessment, encouragement and positioning. Sometimes they need counseling to deal with blind spots, sometimes coaching, sometimes a hybrid. Does this sound like you? Let's talk and see if we are the right fit.

Stress in relationships and life can impact the level of fulfillment and enjoyment you experience in both. You may have tried to manage on your own thinking that your situation isn't that serious and will get better. You might have shared with friends or loved ones, but feel like no one really gets it leaving you to believe that "this is as good as it will get," but knowing it can't be. There has to be more. There is more. Therapy can help. You can make positive and lasting changes...and feel better. I've helped many people in my 25+ years in the field live more fulfilling lives. I want to help you, too. There is hope.

I believe the most important part of making therapy successful is establishing a trusting relationship where I then empower the client to pursue their desired goals and overcome barriers preventing that outcome. I am very client-centered and base tools and modalities on the individual's strengths and personality. Often these interventions pull from theories such as motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-focused, and Humanistic. I am happy to intertwine Christian faith into treatment if desired.

You are not the problem; the problem is the problem. Problems may tell you a story of shame, pain, anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, or feelings of inadequacy. There is a path out of that story, toward healing. Reclaiming yourself and creating space from these problems sets the stage for you to take your power back. Seeking therapy can be a challenging process—from giving yourself permission to begin, to finding the right therapist once you do.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
