*I specialize in psychological testing/assessment/evaluation* Psychological evaluation is a valuable tool which can provide you and your doctor, clinician, or attorney with important information. For instance, do I have a mental health diagnosis that can help my attorney defend me in court? Does my child have ADHD? Do I suffer from PTSD, depression, or anxiety? Am I ready to go back to work or should I seek disability? How concerned should I be about my teenager's changes in mood and behavior? I use a combination of interviews and tests which are tailored to the individual and his/her/their questions and issues.
I am a therapist because I believe in therapy - I know that getting the right treatment, understanding your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and learning to make changes can make all the difference in the world. I bring a wealth of experience to my clinical practice based on my professional work in Mental Health, Addictions, Hospice and Palliative Care, Program Development, and Families in Distress. These experiences inform my practice by utilizing Client-centered approach to reducing the symptoms of Depression and Anxiety, learning how to prepare for the mood disruptions of Bipolar Disorder, and coping with the loss of loved ones and the challenges of life-altering illnesses.

Life rarely goes as planned. Unexpected experiences can change life for the better or worse. In fact, sometimes even something that seems small can end up causing us to have uncomfortable symptoms such as anxiety, depression, irritability, avoidance, sleep disturbance, intrusive memories or thoughts, and more. Past experiences and traumatic memories contribute to current symptoms and reactions. The goal is not only to learn and use positive coping skills, but to decrease or eliminate current symptoms.
At times life can be unusually painful, scary and confusing. With the COVID-19 virus we are living through such a time. Generally speaking, we may feel anxious, sad, discouraged and alone, and not know what to do. When someone listens to us carefully, we learn how to listen to ourselves, to our own inner life. Talking things out with someone in this special way can help us become clearer about who we are, our strengths and also our self-defeating ways, so we can move forward with an improved sense of self and direction.
Let's create meaningful change in your life together. I believe that all behavior makes sense within the context of one's relationships and life circumstances. It is my goal to guide you as you explore your own unique choices and beliefs and as you gain insight into your behavior. Together we will build upon your strengths and resources to increase desired outcomes.
Managing everyday life can be difficult and sometimes we are hit with unexpected events that further complicate our lives. Oftentimes the things we have done to manage are no longer working. I work with adolescents, young adults and adults, partnering to work through the process of making difficult decisions, supporting life transitions, or managing their mental health challenges. My approach is strength-based and solution focused with the goal of empowering my clients so that they may heal, grow, and feel better able to manage their lives.
Perhaps you are unsure of what is bothering you, but aware that something isn’t working for you anymore. Maybe you're tired of worrying all the time, feeling tension in your body, or feeling stuck in cycles of thinking about the same things. Perhaps you're supportive and patient with others, but are self-critical, high-achieving, and set unrealistic expectations of yourself. Maybe until now, you’ve been pushing yourself to cope with what you’ve been feeling on your own. If you tend to prioritize others, you may be hoping to learn how to set healthy boundaries and communicate assertively, so you can stop feeling drained and isolated.
