My name is Joan McDevitt and I am looking forward to assisting you if you are going through a difficult time in your life. Perhaps it is a life transition, stressful events, or having problems with anger, grief and loss, feelings, mood, behavior, or thoughts. Maybe a loved one passed away months or years ago and the sadness is unbearable. Or you could be struggling with memories, images, and feelings resulting from a traumatic event. And you are looking for a compassionate therapist who will guide and support you on your path to healing and thriving.
My work, training, study, and professional development includes treating those who have been traumatized, are experiencing life’s many transitions, are grieving losses, have substance use problems, chronic pain and illnesses, suffer from anger problems, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders, and have either worked in MDOC or been incarcerated.
You can expect that I will be respectful of your strengths, abilities, needs for treatment, and treatment preferences. We will work together to develop your treatment plan that is mindful of your individuality. I am interested in my clients’ creativity and spirituality as they are strengths and guides for treatment.
