My history is that of helping those with all forms of addiction, anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, acute traumatization, anger management, personality disorders, reintegration, and phase of life changes. During marriage/couples counseling, the emphasis is on the partnership of the relationship and on individual perspectives. During individual counseling, I follow a person-centered, non-judgmental approach focusing on how our unconscious actions and thoughts may have created problems in our lives.
I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also use Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and a combination of existentialism and logotherapy. The main goal is to encourage you to determine your own best course of action.
In my career, I have worked in addiction recovery, outpatient mental health, Employee Assistance Program contracted with the KC Fire Dept., and as a contractor with the US Air Force as an embedded counselor. I have been trained by the VA for PTSD assessment. I am familiar with the effects of trauma and how situations can change our paths.
