I've been in the addictions / mental health (dual diagnosis) field for over 20 years in Colorado, and have been ‘clean’ 30 years (as of 9/1/93). I sincerely believe in clients' ability to make enduring change, after they have learned to identify and accept what's not working in their lives. I'm a very accessible and active therapist, and I offer specialized groups to meet clients' needs. Groups occur Tuesday through Saturday, depending on group assignment. Individual sessions are often a part of effective treatment planning, in addition to, or instead of, group format. Reasonable pricing.

We all have a story to tell. In my 20+ years of counseling individuals and couples, I’ve had the honor of hearing many stories that exhibit the strength of individuals healing from grief, injustice, trauma and chronic illness. I’ve been inspired by the resiliency of the human spirit and the hopefulness that inevitably develops as the narrative of one’s life unfolds. It can be a painful process but one that yields great rewards as we gain understanding of what our story has to tell us about our past and helps us to plan for our future.

Over the last 13 plus years I have specialized in treating clients struggling with substance use and trauma. I have spent the majority of my career working in treatment facilities that address substance use whether they were residential, extended care or outpatient and I enjoy working with those who report concerns related to their use of a substance(s) and report other "underlying concerns" such as a history of trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, etc. I've been trained in EMDR and spent several years working with young adults, women, and even professionals. Codependency and family work is also an area of expertise of mine.

We are a team of experienced trauma therapist that focus our work with individuals who have experienced multiple types of trauma including repeated, chronic, or extreme experiences of trauma and abuse. We have extensive experience working with surivvors of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking and understand the unique and extremely challenging impacts of trauma. We want to partner with you to find a way through the confusion and toward healing and greater freedom.

I work with primarily adults in individual therapy struggling with mental health concerns and/or substance use; however, I also do group therapy and couples counseling. The clients that I currently work with have a wide range of mental health concerns, which can include complex trauma histories and grief and loss. My work with my clients is built around my theoretical basis for my therapy style, which is person-centered. I believe that my clients are the experts on themselves. Through my knowledge of various tools and coping mechanisms I can help get them through the hardships and obstacles that they are encountering in their lives.

Having a safe place to process thoughts and feelings is important. Whether you have experienced trauma, have been feeling depressed or anxious, are struggling with a relationship, making life transitions, or are seeking to gain self-awareness, I would be honored to work with you to create that space of healing and growth. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with my MA from Denver Seminary. I believe that empathy and compassion are essential in the therapeutic relationship and have found that progress is best achieved when integrating both the heart and the mind.

Through over eight years of experience, I’ve found that the best approach to the therapeutic process is by the hand. Treatment can be a challenging endeavor - it requires vulnerability during conversations, patience with ourselves and with the process itself, and a level of self-compassion that can be uncomfortable to express. Using evidence-based treatment modalities, specifically Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with a strength-based and solution-focused approach, I take your hand and guide you through it.
