Colleen Russell's Groups
Workshop for Former Members of Cults
Since 2008 I have facilitated Online Psychoeducational Workshops/Support Sessions (via Zoom) for former members of cults or high demand groups/relationships including those raised in them, categorized as "Family", "Political", "Eastern", "Religious", "Large Group Awareness Training", "Clergy Abuse," etc. Resources are sent prior to the workshop. Participants address relevant issues in their lives, current and past, gain support for healing from loss and trauma; learn successful skills; make sense of their experience, pursue individual goals. Topics include recruitment; coercive influence and manipulation tactics; relationships; personal rights; disconfirming inaccurate, self-limiting beliefs from ideologies; self-care; boundaries; challenges; successes.
Women Older & Wiser (WOW)
An on-going supportive group for Women 50+ (WOW) meets every other Wednesday 12:00 - 1:30 PM. In a supportive environment, motivated women address and explore important issues including those related to relationships, losses, trauma, difficult transitions, family of origin, stages of life, adult children, challenges, successes, self-care and more. Women receive acknowledgement, mutual support, and pursue individual goals with opportunities for healing and growth. An individual consultation and eight session commitment is requested.
Online Motherless Daughters Group
A group for adult women who have lost their mothers in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood through death, illness, separation, estrangement. Women address and explore relevant issues in their lives, current or past. Frequent themes include grieving/longing for a "good enough" mom, trauma, self-identity (Who am I? Who was mom?), relationships, trust, family of origin issues, challenges, successes, transitions, motherless mothers, self-care. Group is a time for mutual support, acknowledgement, validation, better outcomes with opportunities for healing and growth. This on-going group is developed and facilitated by Colleen Russell (also a motherless daughter) since 1997. Six session commitment and individual consultation requested.
