I want to provide a space for you to explore and understand how sex and intimacy fit in with who you are now to promote safety, pleasure, and connection. I am EMDR trained and am in the process of completing my Sex Therapist Certification.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who specialized in sex and relationship counseling. A major focus of mine is working to improve communication skills within relationships as well as with individuals. It is important to me to provide a space where sex and sexuality can be explored safely for clients, especially when often there has not been opportunity for that to occur. I strive to provide facts and education around sex to help clients better understand themselves and normalize their experiences. Additionally, I work with clients experiencing desire discrepancies, mood disorders, sexual anxieties and sexual dysfunction.

At Renew, we provide a safe, caring space for clients seeking professional mental health counseling that remains faithful to their Christian beliefs. We seek to integrate Biblical principles into our clinical work to help clients grow, thrive and find true healing and hope. As a faith-based counseling center, we seek to meet each client where they are on their journey and walk gently and humbly with them through their trials. Traditionally trained in psychodynamic and CBT. However, clients who are open to an overarching paradigm of spiritual/energy concepts have proven to benefit the most from CognoSpiritual Psychotherapy which I developed to address clinical issues, e.g., anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and other psychological/emotional issues associated with living and working in this world. A fundamental assumption of the paradigm is that "God" is spirit/energy in All things, people, situations (omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent energy), not limited to man-made divisions of faith and practice.

My specialty areas include depression,self harm, relationship problems, stress management and life transitions. I believe that therapy should be more than "venting." I view you as a collaborator in setting concrete goals and working towards positive life changes and growth. I will be a supportive cheerleader, while pushing you to think about your life from a different perspective and to work towards a better version of yourself.

I strive to help you identify your strengths and positive traits to assist in building confidence and self-esteem. Many of our mental health challenges are linked to our thoughts. Currently not accepting new clients. Kimberly is a Licensed Professional Counselor who is pending National Board Certified in Counseling. She enjoys working with individuals ages 5 and older to empower them through exploring their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, CBT, and mindfulness are evidence-based practices that she utilizes in sessions to help individuals achieve their future goals and overcome current struggles.  While these are her preferred interventions, she realizes that each person has individualized needs, and therefore needs individualized care. ​

**EVENING AND WEEKEND APPTS NOW AVAILABLE OVER TELEHEALTH** Sometimes people become stuck as a result of depression, anxiety, traumatic stress, or other issues that disrupt them from living their best life. They may have difficulty moving forward because of excessive worry, unhelpful thoughts, low energy, or the inability to access and utilize healthy coping skills. Therapy provides a safe place to address the issues that affect your life, and to receive the support and guidance you need to overcome limitations and meet your goals.

Ashley Pennington, MSW, LISW, is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Master's Degree in Social Work. She brings a wealth of experience from various practice areas including mental health, child welfare, education, homelessness, corrections, and veteran services. As a veteran, she values cultural differences and has a unique perspective on therapy. Additionally, Ashley has a strong background working with children in educational settings, particularly those with trauma backgrounds who require assistance in navigating and managing their emotions.

Passion for my work, empathy and excellence in clinical child & adolescent training coupled with my years of experience & counseling education allows me to offer effective individualized psychological care.
