I am trained as a generalist and draw from evidence and practice-based approaches to best fit your needs while integrating interpersonal, client-centered, feminist theory, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based interventions.
Individual therapy offers a non-judgemental space for you to learn more about yourself and the issues that are troubling to you. Central to my practice is a supportive and trusting relationship in which you can feel valued, respected, and worthy. I will be with you throughout the process, offering my support, encouragement, and candid observations. Facing these issues can be intimidating and seeking help takes courage. Whether you work with me or another professional, I am glad you are beginning this journey.

My integrative, humanistic approach utilizes techniques and interventions from person-centered, existential, narrative, creative arts and gestalt therapies as well as mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapies, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
My clients include adolescents and adults of all ages. They may experience depression, anxiety, disordered eating, poor body image, trauma, chronic stress, grief, relationship issues, trouble navigating life transitions, or other human struggles. They may have internalized negative messages about themselves from a history of abuse or as a result of being part of oppressed or marginalized communities. They are searching for tools to help them cope with challenges and build a life that is richer and more rewarding.

I draw from both psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral theories.
I love working with people who are curious about the world, and who turn their curiosity inward, too. My clients tend to be thoughtful, expressive people often at the cusp of changing the way that they relate to themselves and others. I help my clients, regardless of age, background, field of study or work, address the low mood and worry that keep them from moving toward more fully realizing their goals.

I use integrative counseling techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and evidence-based mindfulness approaches, which can lead you to acceptance and commitment toward a more peaceful way of life.
Your life’s journey does not always follow straight lines. Negative feelings and experiences can cause your life-lines to become crooked, jagged, or broken, and may leave you feeling as if you’ve reached a dead end. Turning around may not be so simple. Going forward may not be so direct. Perhaps you may need to find a whole new line to walk. At this point it is good to pause to explore all your options.

My therapy styles include a mix of cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy, as well as motivational interviewing.
How do you feel about change? Or lack of control? It is not easy with adapting to change, and as the world is changing, it may feel like we don't have a grasp of our lives. Maybe the pandemic is not a concern, and you are discovering more about yourself and don't know what to do. I've been there and I want to be there for you. Sometimes, all we need is a person to hear us without judgment, and provide us with insight and the truth to our concerns. I am happy to provide that with you.

Beyond my "formal" education I have continuously pursued on-going education in the areas of Adlerian, Jungian, and Cognitive therapies.
My education and background in philosophy and clinical psychology, and over 30 years in the field, help me assist individuals with a broad range of life difficulties (anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties), taking a rather wholistic approach to the person. I see my goal as helping individuals learn more about themselves (their hidden strengths and weaknesses) so they can build upon their strengths, minimize the effects of their weaknesses, and thus more efficiently and effectively face the concerns that are causing stress. To this end a number of self-report personality measures are administered which help identify strengths and weaknesses.

I believe that we all strive to develop into our most authentic selves. Through the therapeutic relationship, clients can learn new skills, heal from past hurts and challenge inaccurately held beliefs. In my practice, I work with adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship and work issues, and compassion fatigue. I use CBT in the context of a supportive relationship. I also use EMDR, a treatment for healing trauma. As a clinical psychologist, I have over 20 years of experience working with adults. I would be honored to join you in your journey towards positive mental health.

I have 17 years of experience working in inpatient and outpatient settings providing individual and group counseling and treatment of substance use and mental health disorders. I believe the therapeutic relationship is extremely important and that the therapeutic process needs to be a collaborative effort. There is an intricate relationship between how we think, how we feel, and how we behave. Attitude is everything; therefore it is imperative to believe change is possible. I do. Providing you are willing to work for it, you will, too.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists
Cognitive-behavioral therapy stresses the role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. It is based on the belief that thoughts, rather than people or events, cause our negative feelings. The therapist assists the client in identifying, testing the reality of, and correcting dysfunctional beliefs underlying his or her thinking. The therapist then helps the client modify those thoughts and the behaviors that flow from them. CBT is a structured collaboration between therapist and client and often calls for homework assignments.

If you're looking for CBT therapy in Cleveland Heights or for a Cleveland Heights CBT therapist these professionals provide cognitive behavioral therapy, cbt group therapy, cbt therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, cognitive therapy and behavioral therapy. They include CBT therapists, CBT psychologists, CBT psychotherapists and CBT counselors.
