I believe the therapeutic process is a partnership, rooted in trust, and cultivated within a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. I utilize techniques from a variety of treatment frameworks to meet each client's individual needs. Examples include attachment-oriented, person-centered and trauma-informed approaches, sensorimotor and somatic psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing. My work is grounded in empathy, authenticity, unconditional respect, and multicultural consciousness, and I always consider how the intersection of one’s personal identity, society, and culture impacts their daily experiences.

I use an integrative approach that draws from relational, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and systems modalities.
Never thought you'd find yourself looking for a therapist, or had a disappointing therapy experience before? Much of the success of treatment depends on finding someone whom you can trust, who is as invested in seeing you make progress as you are. I have a solid track record working with children, adolescents, adults and families to create change in their lives...even when situations feel hopeless.

I will tailor my approach based on your needs, and use evidence based techniques such as CBT, psychodynamic, mindfulness, and others to help you achieve your wellness goals.
Beginning a journey of emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing can be intimidating. I know because I’ve been there. It’s hard to know where to start when there are thousands of diets, workout plans, and therapists to choose from. The good news is it’s not as complicated as it seems! The first step in solving any problem is awareness which means you are already on your way. I will help you develop the knowledge you need to create a wellness plan that best suits you as a unique individual. I will support you emotionally through the ups and downs of this journey, and help you process past traumas if they are showing up.

I am passionate about helping individuals overcome negative beliefs they may have about themselves, others, or the world, specifically after a trauma or an adverse life experience. My clinical training in CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), allows me to have a unique perspective to help individuals identify what is keeping them stuck and find ways to create a new narrative to their lives. In addition to trauma, I work with individuals with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, low self-esteem, addictions, ADHD, and relationship concerns.

While incorporating a strength-based, trauma-informed lens, I use a blend of psychotherapeutic styles including narrative therapy, CBT, and psychoanalysis.
It can be difficult processing who we are, what we have experienced, and how we should move forward in the face of adversity. While working collaboratively, I welcome individuals to share their story unapologetically and unpack these life experiences. I work to build a caring collaboration that aims to empower and uplift while fostering safety and trust. I offer an affirming, safe space for people who identify as a POC and/or LGBTQIA+ to explore their identities holistically and deconstruct their own narrative within a larger system. Together, we can create a plan with your specific needs and goals in mind.

Are you finding yourself in a pattern of repetitive behaviors that often interfere with your relationships/self-esteem? This may look like: relationships characterized by high conflict or codependency; periods of intense self-shaming/negative self-talk; emotional reactivity; or may show up as self-harming behaviors. If you are looking to receive non-judgmental care focused on building self-esteem and improving emotional regulation, you are in the right place! I have experience working specifically with young adults 18-35, the LGBTQ+ community and those diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder or PTSD.

I use a variety of therapeutic strategies to assist clients, including CBT.
Sometimes we all need a little help. None of us have life all figured out! We all have distressing thoughts and feelings we need to work through. Relationship problems, anger, poor boundaries, mental illness, trauma, all add to daily stress. The good news is, strategies are available to change what isn't working, alter how we think, become mindful of our strengths, and increase our capacity to grow in different directions. For more than 16 years, helping clients grow and learn to live their best life and improve well-being with a variety of evidence-based strategies, has been my passion. Im grateful for the opportunity to assist!

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
