I tailor my approach to each individual, drawing from psychodynamic perspectives, attachment theory, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
Therapy can help you understand how past experiences impact your daily life and relationships. By recognizing these patterns, we can begin cultivating lasting change in our interactions and relationships. Most of my clients want to improve their relationships, their sex life, or explore their identities or transitions. I specialize in sex and relationship therapy, enhancing intimacy and desire, improving differences in desire, and working through pain or dysfunction, particularly within the queer community. I also offer psychological evaluations to clarify diagnoses and collaborate on treatment recommendations.

I use a combination of CBT , mindfulness practices, trauma resolution tools (EMDR, IFS), somatic tools, relapse prevention skills and more to open my clients to their natural drive and movement toward healing, growth and change.
Are you living with depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, lack of direction, trauma? I believe that we naturally feel a call to live meaningful, loving lives and know intuitively that this is our best path but we often will feel stuck, unsure, fearful and so take no action. Existential therapy calls this a restricted existence and believes the goal of all therapy is to remove the road blocks that are limiting you from moving toward living your best life.

I use elements of neurobiology, cognitive behavioral therapy, and humanistic perspective to help people understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives.
I know getting started can be hard. My goal is to help you feel as comfortable as possible so we can go at your pace. I specialize in working with clients with anxiety, ADHD, and trauma. Many of my clients have tried to cope with their situations by pushing their feelings away or using addictive behaviors to numb them. My job is to help people listen to and manage their emotions without feeling overwhelmed or ruled by them. Being personally in recovery from alcohol helps me understand and empathize with what you’re going through because I’ve probably been there too.

I help people transform their lives through evidence based treatments including guided imagery, DBT, CBT, ACT, and Attachment Focused Relationship treatment.
I believe that all of our experiences can enrich us if we can find meaning and reclaim our strength after suffering. I help clients understand how the brain strives ever toward survival, and to use that understanding to transform old thought patterns that have kept them stuck in the past. I work with adult individuals on the premise of resilience, that our brains can and do evolve all the time. I also offer Supervision services to interns and LCMHCAs, both individually and in small peer groups.

I use evidence-based practices that include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Grounding, and Play Therapy techniques to foster an environment in which one is provided with tools to navigate the various seasons we experience.
Growing is part of our day-to-day life. Sometimes growth can involve uncomfortable feelings and experience difficult patterns. These seasons of growth are instances in which we can blossom if provided the right tools. Using a trauma-informed, person-centered approach, I work with children and adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, negative self-worth, and body image struggles. My goal is to cultivate a warm and compassionate space that fosters trust, creativity, and honest conversations. By working together, I hope that individuals find connection, confidence, and acceptance within themselves.

Some of my theoretical training includes: CBT, DBT,SFT, Systemic Therapy and Psychoanalysis.
We are bio-psycho-social beings, and an imbalance in one area affects the others. Therapy is a process that can enable you to identify what is making you struggle in your relationships, in your physical body and with your mental health. It can help you find unique ways to make the changes that will empower you to become more resilient and capable of coping with difficult situations, as part of an ongoing learning experience. I believe that each person is a singular and unique human being. With that mindset, I understand my clients own idiosyncratic style, and unique ways of perceiving and managing conflicts.

We may work well together if you are looking for therapy that is direct, possibly even fun at times and is a mixture of cognitive work and somatic practices.
Are you not feeling like yourself? Missing who you were or longing for who you want to be? Are your thoughts telling you that you are broken or unworthy? Sometimes difficult experiences or the general stress of life manifests as physical pain in our bodies or as emotions that feel overwhelming and unpredictable. Therapy is a place to learn how to listen to the wisdom of our bodies to better understand how to take care of our mental and physical well-being. The fact that you are looking at this page means you have taken the first step towards getting to know yourself better, and I know how hard that first step can be.

In my work, I use an eclectic approach that includes mindfulness, parts work (Internal Family Systems), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
It is natural for us to encounter bumps in the road every now and then. But sometimes, those bumps feel like mountains and it can feel like we’re stuck. I am here to walk with you and help you move forward in times like these. I believe deeply in the power of human connection in the path to healing and self-compassion. I understand the vulnerability that it can take to seek therapy. My goal in our work together is to create a safe space where you can bring your whole, authentic self. My work as a therapist is grounded in a client-centered approach, meaning that your goals will guide our work together.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
