We perform short-term and long-term therapy with various approaches, such as Cognitive Behavior (CBT), Dialectical Behavior (DBT) and Solution Focused.
*Certified CBT Therapist* My approach to therapy allows me to conduct solution-focused therapy; meaning that together we will work towards solving whatever questions you may have through changing thoughts and/or behaviors. I also perform Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) where my work focuses on helping people change problematic behaviors. With a teaching style heavily rooted in behavior therapy, I am able to work with people to problem solve in the here and now, where we will work to turn the issues of yesterday and today into a better tomorrow.

Highly experienced in both insight-oriented and cognitive-behavioral therapies, Dr.
"I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families from age eighteen through every adult decade. My style is interactive, collaborative, and non-hierarchical. My emphasis is on promoting psychological resilience by helping my clients expand their copings skills in the manner of resilient individuals. You do not have to be unusually healthy or come from a terrible past in order to benefit from the lessons of the resilient. I am equally comfortable and conversant with agony as much as ecstasy. If you are motivated to change through therapy, you are highly likely to be a lot happier with yourself and your life over time."

What is it that you want and need in your life, and what is getting in your way? Perhaps you don't even know yet. My work is dedicated to helping people move forward and feel more like they want to feel. I incorporate a strong Mind-Body approach using tools which have proven both practical and effective, such as EMDR, EFT, Internal Family Systems and mindfulness. I have great confidence that bringing curiosity, compassion and yes, even humor, together we can find your answers and create change. Again and again, I have seen clients come in frozen and stuck, then able to leave with positive life patterns in place.

I use multiple approaches: CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, attachment theory, and mindfulness.
I guide people to create change in their lives, and understand this is often a difficult and overwhelming process. My focus is to assist people with creative problem solving, stay goal-oriented, and to ensure you feel validated and truly heard. By exploring your feelings, thoughts, physiology, and experiences, you’ll come to feel, learn, heal, and grow. It’s not always fun or easy- soul work is hard work. But I strive to provide a safe, nonjudgmental, and nurturing space for you to become empowered and create agency in your life. It’s time to focus on caring and nurturing yourself. Because it really does start with you.

I integrate CBT, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness with a person-centered, strengths based approach to support adults with trauma, anxiety, and depression.
Each of us possesses an internal core of resilience, strength and determination. My goal in treatment is to help individuals to recognize, embrace, and utilize these attributes to navigate the challenges they face and to achieve peak emotional fitness. Emotional fitness is a state in which the mind is capable of staying away from negative thoughts and can focus on creative and constructive tasks. Therapy must focus on and nurture our mind and body to achieve the totality of emotional fitness. Therapy will allow us to embark on this mission together, guided by your individualized life goals.

I utilize a range of therapeutic modalities, but find I most commonly engage with CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Hello and welcome! My name is Sarah, I’m an independently licensed social worker, and I’ve been working in the field at a masters level for over 7 years. I first became interested in the work of therapy because I genuinely enjoy connecting with others on a deeper level, and helping my clients better understand themselves and their journey, particularly in those difficult moments where life just isn’t making sense. If you're feeling overwhelmed or overcome by many different obstacles right now, or you'd simply like to talk through a certain challenging experience, you've come to the right place.

Utilizing DBT, TF-CBT, and facets of unconditional positive regard, my focus is really allowing the client to be the expert of their experience, working as a copilot on their journey to wellness.
Often times, life's waves produce times of emotional hardship marked by deep seated feelings of grief, sadness, confusion, depression, worry, and anxiety. Therapy is an opportunity to have the space, support, and safety to address the waves inherent in everyday life without judgment. If you are experiencing a life transition, a break-up, day-to-day parenting and relationship stress, or you are simply being haunted by past events or thoughts that don't seem to budge, therapy can provide an outlet to gain the insight, awareness, and relief you may be seeking.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
